Have you ever lain awake at night fretting over how we can be sure of the reality of the external world? Perhaps we are in fact disembodied brains, floating in vats at the whim of some deranged puppet-master? If so, you are not alone - and what's more, you are in exalted company. For this question and others like it have been the stuff of philosophical rumination for centuries, from Plato to Popper. In a series of accessible and engaging essays, 50 Philosophy Ideas You Really Need to Know introduces and explains the problems of knowledge, consciousness, identity, ethics, belief, justice and aesthetics that have troubled the minds of great thinkers for centuries, from the ancient Greeks to the present day. Çështjet e filozofisë pa asnjë dallim mund të jenë të thella dhe shpesh herë të vështira, por gjithashtu ato janë edhe të rëndësishme.

The perfect introduction to the central ideas of philosophy now available in audio format.

In a series of accessible and engaging short lectures delivered in the deep chocolate tones of reader Laurence Kennedy, 50 Philosophy Ideas You Really Need to Know introduces and explains the problems of knowledge, consciousness, identity, ethics, belief, justice, and aesthetics that have engaged the attention of thinkers from the era of the ancient Greeks to the present day.

Good concept, but as someone who understands almost *nothing* about philosophy coming in, the structure is difficult to get. ( )

Supercondensed summary of some key philosophical ideas, useful to someone like me who fled from the topic after one exposure in college. The book's primary benefit may be that it makes one want to read more. ( )
