From How myths began: Greeks and Romans loved to tell stories about the wonderful adventures of their gods. After a while they added the stories of their heroes, too. To the Greeks and Romans a hero was a warrior who was so much stronger and braver than other people that he seemed almost like a god. As people told the stories of their gods and heroes over and over, the stories grew and changed. Sometimes people told the same story in several different ways. All these stories make up what we call the Greek and Roman mythology. Even today people find new ways to tell the old myths. You will read them in books and see them in plays and movies and even on television. They are just as interesting today as they were in the beginning, and that is for a strange reason-the Greeks and Romans believed that their gods felt and acted like human beings! The gods in the myths love and hate, quarrel and make up, play funny tricks and make terrible mistakes, just as we do. The only difference is that everything the gods do is bigger and brighter and noisier. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
