A lovely collection. As with all short story collections or anthologies some you like and some you don't but I believe that usually changes based on the person reading and what perspective they bring, unless of course the reason for not liking the story is because of poor writing but that is not the case in this book. A good short fantasy science fiction collection.

I enjoyed this book overall. Like most collections of short stories it had some that were great, some that were not good and most landed in the middle. There's a couple in here that make it all worth it. ( )

A dozen short pieces of speculative fiction. Some are mere vignettes while others are fully fleshed out tales. As with almost all short story collections, there are some clunkers, but also a couple of standouts. The predominant genre is science fictions, but few feel like Twilight Zone stories (but without the twist).

It was an OK read, this collection of short stories ranging from sci-fi to cautionary tale, to fantasy, to fairy-tale. Sadly, somehow none of them quite delivered for me, in each case I felt it fell just that little bit short in something: in conciseness, in world-building, in character development, in describing and telling instead of actually showing what's going on, in messages that were either overly obscure or too on the nose and last but not least, in novelty. I'm sure most of the stories will work fine for adolescent readers (in some of them, e.g. "Larry" and "The Man of Her Dreams" seem specifically targeted towards this age group), however, as an avid reader of speculative fiction of many decades' standing, I could somehow never quite shake the feeling that I had heard it all before. I guess it just was not for me. ( )

This collection varied from really good to just meh. Overall, I gave it 3 stars. It's a pretty quick read, so I'd recommend trying it out.
