"The Keepers of Aris" by Autumn Green invites readers into a thrilling world of magic, danger, and the power of choice. This captivating fantasy adventure explores the parallel realm of Aris Magica, a realm of forgotten magic that becomes entangled with the human world in a battle for survival.

The story follows Jay Raremore, a young girl with incredible powers she struggles to control. Jay's journey of self-discovery and acceptance forms the core of the narrative. Alongside her best friend, she navigates the mysteries of the Institute, a boarding school for Aris Magicians, while uncovering her purpose in a world on the brink of war.
Dylan McCoy, a steadfast companion and protector, adds depth to the story as he seeks revenge for his parents' tragic demise. Their unwavering bond showcases the strength of friendship amidst adversity.
Autumn Green masterfully weaves together an intricate plot filled with suspense, unexpected twists, and a looming ancient witch, Aturdokht. As the formidable antagonist awakens, Jay becomes the world's last hope for salvation, pushing her to confront her fears and embrace her unique abilities.
The author's vivid descriptions and immersive world-building bring Aris Magica to life, allowing readers to experience the magic and wonder alongside the characters. From the corridors of the Institute to the heart-stopping confrontations, each scene is expertly crafted to evoke a sense of awe and anticipation.
What sets "The Keepers of Aris" apart is the exploration of moral choices and the complexities of power. Jay faces difficult decisions, forcing readers to ponder the nature of mercy, justice, and the consequences of one's actions. This deeper thematic layer adds richness to the story, making it resonate on a profound level.
Autumn Green's writing style is engaging and accessible, making it an enjoyable read for both young adult and adult audiences. The pacing is well-balanced, with suspenseful moments interspersed with heartfelt interactions and moments of reflection.
"The Keepers of Aris" is an enthralling page-turner that leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next installment. Autumn Green's storytelling prowess, compelling characters, and thought-provoking themes make this book a must-read for fans of fantasy and adventure. I was excited to check out The Keepers of Aris because it has a great concept. The idea of an Institute of Magic where genetically gifted humans and fantastical creatures train to develop their abilities is creative and interesting. I think this concept wasn't carried out as well as it could have been. It was a little rushed and the world building was not as complete as I would have liked. The characters were a little under developed so it was harder to feel a connection. I think this could be a great series, the ideas are all there it just needs some refinement. Thanks to the publishers for giving me a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review through the early reviewers program. ( )

Basic story is a good one. The world of magic, final battles, demons or creatures of other realms, all of this is a great concept for this story. I had a difficult time feeling invested in the characters. At first I struggled with the difficult names to pronounce, none of them really felt natural, except Jay and I think I only saw her full name twice and now I can't remember it. I also never understood some of the relationships to each other, some just kind of where all of a sudden an important part but never explained. Some parts felt rushed or lacking in the details that would explain why it's important while other parts seemed overly descriptive and in the end not a significant influence on the story. The battle, which I hoped would be grand, interesting and well layed out, left me confused. If this is a tease for a next book, I will probably not ever see the ending. I didn't find these characters developed enough to find out what happens next.
Thank you LibraryThing for the Reviewer copy. ( )
