Jill Hannah Anderson drew me in with an unraveling, puzzling, fast-paced tension driven saga in A Life Unraveled! There were so many twists and turns about a teacher who was brutally assaulted while out on a morning run. Who was arrested for her attack and the retaliation she suffered from some of the townspeople and the school where she works builds up to an amazing read. Sure asks the question "Whom Can You Trust?" This is a very heart-rendering story about family, one's failings, and true forgiveness with a mystery til the end of the book! ( )

Lily had the perfect life – married, family and a great job - until one fateful day when she is out for a run in the park and is attacked. That is the day her life starts to unravel. She spends time in the hospital and then has to endure both physical and occupational therapy. Lily’s husband, Luke, and their three daughters are also suffering during this time. As Lily slowly begins to heal, she goes back to work teaching kindergarten and is attempting to get her life back to normal but weird things start to happen and she begins to question her sanity.
She was able to identify her attacker but the town is divided as to whether they believe here or not. She isn’t sure who to trust but knows she can trust the detectives looking into the attack.
This is a well-written story with believable characters because they are flawed. This is about trust – who can/do you trust? It’s also about addiction – Lily becomes addicted to opioids and her brother had an addiction when he was younger. There are many twists and turns and an ending that I didn’t see coming. Highly recommend. ( )

Holy shit. This book. This book will rock you to the soul. I read it two months ago and while I’m finally writing up the review now (real life is sometimes a bitch) I didn’t even need to go skim for a refresher. It has stuck itself front and center in my brainpan. It starts out with this brutal assault that will make your heart beat in fight or flight mode. Then the aftermath is so horrible it makes you cringe. And then it makes you mad. I was so mad reading this. Why are people this way? Because this isn’t just a fictional book. We all know this shit happens in real life. Ugh. Anyway…

The plot, the dialogue, Lily’s struggles, all are so well-written! Lily could be any one of us. Well, not me. Not the running part. I don’t run. If I’m running you better get moving because something is either chasing me or about to blow up. Even then I might just say fuck it and declare it’s been a good life. In any case, pick up this book. Seriously. If you like an author who puts characters and readers through the wringer then do not pass this one up. ( )

Wow! I haven’t read a book this fast in quite a while! I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down! I connected with Lily before even opening the book as I’m a mom of three, kindergarten parapro and, until recently, ran regularly. Thankfully, that’s where our similarities end!

Lily’s attack is unexpected and tragic but the year that follows is even more harrowing. So many unexplained events that left Lily, and those close to her, questioning her sanity. I had so many suspicions as the story played out but was still surprised when the truth was revealed, which was nice. I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy thrillers and suspense without gore. Such a great read! ( )
