Halfway through the series, the status quo gets a big shake-up. Members of the Gantz team finally reach the 100-point level and get to exploit the bonus reward menu. The vampires strike and get pulled into a situation they aren't expecting. And for the first time, the Gantz team finds themselves on an assignment outside Tokyo.
The new situation does undercut some of the drama and thrills of the early volumes, but it does open a new level of the game. And the action is relentless and exciting, even if the consequences are now less dire.
The usual fan service pin-ups feel even ickier when a graphic rape sequence is thrown into the main story. ( )
