Ideen til Jørn Lier Horsts nye mysterium med William Wisting er god. Dessverre blir den ikke helt forløst i denne romanen.
Åtte måneder i forveien er den australske backpackeren Ruby Thompson blitt drept i Spania. Det lokale politiet kom ingen vei med saken. En av hennes venninner hjemme i Australia har startet etterforskning på egen hånd, på et nettforum for crowdsolving, der informasjon samles inn og systematiseres av privatpersoner som tror de har noe å tilføre saken.
