I think the poems were nice? The formatting made individual poems and also the book as a whole hard to read. ( )Cette critique a été rédigée pour LibraryThing Member Giveaways. This is a series of poems connected to each other. Unfortunately, the mobi format was not right. It's weirdly formatted, the format changes in the middle. It does not look like poems at all. The numbers are everywhere (page numbers mixed up with poem numbers), also the table of content is a mess. It took away much of the pleasure of reading the book. Also, quite a few spelling mistakes (al, hil, wil, etc.) which just irritated me. I'll gladly review the book again once these errors are addressed. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Poems of the mystical, the magical, and the sacred. These poems are rooted in this world, yet not of this world. LILAC WHITE is the journey into the light, the dark, the fairytale, the psychological, the pagan, the Christ.... there is forgiveness... there is love... all is a spell... dusted and sprinkled.... enter a strange sparkle. "This is a remarkable first collection. There is a delicacy in the writing, a numinous beauty; at once erotic and spiritual. I was repeatedly ambushed by a startling image or fragment of narrative, precisely placed. You enter his world and are held by his spell."-Adrian Noble (former Artistic Director, Chief Executive Royal Shakespeare Company) "...your impressive first collection. I found them beautifully imagined and very cleverly written. Challenging but hugely rewarding."-Sir Derek Jacobi (Actor) Speaking to The Times newspaper, actor Timothy Spall said of Martyn's writing: "What I adored about it was that it had a simplicity that, until you actually read it properly and understand it, looks very simple... [but it's] imparted like... painting, through sense of feeling, understanding and atmosphere..." -Timothy Spall (Actor) Martyn Hesford is a BAFTA-nominated writer. His film screenplays include FANTABULOSA! starring Michael Sheen, and MRS LOWRY AND SON starring Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Spall. LILAC WHITE is Martyn Hesford's first collection of poetry.
