There are thirteen Luas stops between Sandyford and St. Stephen's Green in Dublin, each significant in the lives of the people who step on and off the tram every day. The passengers all hunker down, folded tightly into themselves, eyes fixed on their phones, interminably scrolling, terrified of connecting with each other. Except . . . Except, who's that good-looking guy in the long dark coat who's eyeing up Selfie Queen Laura? Could he end up as one of her terrible choices? Hang on, isn't he the same guy who was ogling glamorous working-mum-with-a-secret Maroon before? And why is Jamie over there telling his life story to a complete stranger? What's Fauve hiding in her handbag? It must be the Crown Jewels at the very least, the way she's clutching it so tightly to herself. And why does Becks from two seats down look out the window so anxiously? Is she worried that Barry could be straying? Alight here for the inside track . . .… (plus d'informations)

I enjoyed all of Maeve Binchy's books and so this was my choice from LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Unfortunately, I discovered that there was a reason I usually avoid short story collections. There was a little continuity between stories but it seemed like certain characters made token appearances rather than being part of the story line. Mostly, I couldn't identify with the characters. I did really enjoy one story because the character was likable and seemed to grow. The writing was fine and the setting interesting but I really couldn't get into it. It was more my problem than the author's.

At first, I was a little taken aback by the style of writing and the changing of characters and scenes. I was prepared to get through the book but not necessarily enjoy it. They I was grabbed by the stories and really enjoyed how each one led to the next. My only complaint is that it's over and there weren't resolutions to each! LOL! I guess that's left up to the reader. I did enjoy it! ( )

I enjoyed these 13 stories of people riding the LUAS in suburban Dublin. It is a bit like people watching on the tram, when you look at someone and wonder what their life is like... here you get to learn all about their lives. For some reason I’d expected the stories to be light and inconsequential but many of them are harder hitting.
I found the 13 stories for the 13 stops a bit gimmicky, especially as they weren’t completely standalone short stories and the resolution of one story would often be at the start of the next one. But I enjoyed the writing and the characters, and if any of them got their own book some day I’d look forward to reading it. ( )

I enjoyed this book but am hoping that there is a follow-up book. Would like to know more about the characters. It is reminiscent of Maeve Binchy but not as involved as her works. It is like a book of short stories that overlap some but it also leaves you wondering just what has happened to some of them. All in all, a decent read.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it. ( )
