Seventeen-year-old Evie Beckham has always been too occupied with her love of math and frequent battles with anxiety to want to date. Besides, she's always found the idea of kissing to be kind of weird. But by senior year, thanks to therapy and her friends, she's feeling braver than before. Maybe even brave enough to enter the national math and physics competition or flirt back with the new boy. Meanwhile, Evie's best friend, Caleb Covic, has always been a little in love with her. So he's horrified when he is forced to witness Evie's meet-cute with the new guy. Desperate, Caleb uses an online forum to capture Evie's interest--and it goes a little too well. Now Evie wonders how she went from avoiding romance to having to choose between two--or is it three?--boys.… (plus d'informations)

There is a lot of saviour complex in this book. BUT I feel like Evie was given a lot of agency to make her own decisions and to prove her own capabilities. I did not feel like Evie needed a Prince Charming. I really appreciate how, au contraire, Evie didn't really look for a Prince Charming until she was already secure in her own mental health.

This was a cute read. ( )

CW: anxiety, panic attacks, mother tries to medicate daughter without her knowledge/consent, bullying

Well it was cute and frustrating in equal measure.

I'm pretty sure I have said this already in another review but I think it needs revisiting. I understand that a story would be quite short if two people turned to each other and said, "I like you" and the other person said "I like you too". I mean where is the fun in that? But does there need to be as much miscommunication as frequently occurs in YA romances? There is certainly a degree of charm when two nervous people are scared to admit how they feel. This phase seems to last an awfully long time in some books though. That being said, I did like this novel. It was enjoyably quirky, and I feel like the anxiety rep was done quite well. The characters were quite engaging and the dynamics were entertaining. Pretty solid YA romance that made for a fun listen. ( )

I was enjoying this. I think it was just the time in my life that I was reading it. I stepped away and my galley expired. Will I give this another try. Absolutely. I liked it. It was building into a sweet romance and I want to know how it ends. ( )

Evie is a 17-year-old who has never kissed a boy, but loves mah. Evie struggles with anxiety and seeks therapy for it. This is something that many students may be able to relate with so for this reason alone is a good reason to have this book in your library. However, there are plenty of other reasons too. Evie's best friend, Caleb, is in love with her and he joins an online forum to get her attention. ( )

It is great to read a young adult book where the main character suffers from a mental illness like anxiety, and it is treated as something normal that doesn't dominate the plot.

Alternating first person chapters lends to the readability of this romantic comedy. It was especially enjoyable to read a story where the smart kids were viable romantic partners.

A satisfying read for a teen looking for a light hearted friends to lovers romance. ( )
