"When the Chatsworth Library closes indefinitely, Dodie Fairisle loses her sanctuary. How is a small-town art teacher supposed to cope without the never-ending life advice and enjoyment that books give her? Well, when she's as resourceful and generous as Dodie, she turns her sunroom into her very own little lending library. At first just a hobby, this lit lovers' haven opens up her world in incredible ways. She knows books are powerful, and soon enough they help her forge friendships between her zany neighbors - and attract an exciting new romance. But when the chance to adopt an orphaned child brings Dodie's secret dream of motherhood within reach, everything else suddenly seems less important. Finding herself at a crossroads, Dodie must figure out what it means to live a full, happy life. If only there were a book that could tell her what to do"--… (plus d'informations)

Nice, refreshing story of a kind hearted artist/teacher who turns part of her home into a library. She becomes a part of the lives of many people and learns what she really wants in life. ( )

I loved that every character had their problems. No one was perfect. This book take on family is refreshing. Family is more than blood and more than marriage. It can be messy and complex. This book did a great job at showing that. The different ideas on whether to have children and the difficulties that come with children was handled well. ( )

I wanted to like this book and eventually powered through to finish it, but after several attempts. I loved the beginning of the book, but then felt the tone change when the goal (it seemed) was to become a mother. While that is the goal for some, it's something that I could not relate to and found it hard to get into the remaining of the story. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC, but all opinions are my own. ( )

A fun, sensitive romance about relationships of all kinds. Dodie Fairisle is a wonderful heroine; smart, helpful, creative, caring. She finds happiness in the beautiful and welcoming town of Chatsworth working as an art teacher. When the local library needs to close for repairs she knows the town will suffer. She creates a lending library in the sunroom of her home spending her own funds on furnishing it. She is thrilled with it and with news that her good friend Sullivan is adopting a baby.

Read The Lending Library to learn more about Dodie's family, friends, and all the sweet, helpful townspeople who support her efforts.

Contemporary chick lit. I was disappointed that the lending library wasn't an integral part of the story. If you are looking for something light and a no-brainer, this is it! ( )
