Although still mostly uplifting, this third book in the [b:All Creatures Great and Small|32085|All Creatures Great and Small (All Creatures Great and Small, #1)|James Herriot|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1393644607l/32085._SX50_.jpg|69329306] series is told in a more mature and grittier voice. There is the occasional use of a swear word here and there. Each chapter begins with some aspect of Herriot's wartime experiences in the RAF and then usually segues into some remembrance from his veterinary practice. That was a little jarring at first but then I got used to it and actually appreciated his method of storytelling. ( )
