Murder Stifling heat, three families, plenty of secrets and one holiday. What could possibly go wrong? It seems that nearly everyone involved has something to hide, even though the women are all best friends there are still some things that you can’t be shared, not even with them. Especially when that secret is that you are having an affair with your best friends husband! This is a very character driven novel that is a bit of a slow burner as it follows the three women and their families on what should have been a much-needed, unforgettable holiday, and that is exactly what they got. A holiday no-one will ever be able to forget. Dysfunctional families, cheating husbands, troubled teenagers all together under the roof of one luxurious French villa where the only thing that is right is the villa it’s self, everything else is most certainly not alright. As the heat rises and the plot thickens each secret is brought to the surface and when you are all living under one roof there is no way of hiding from them, and as much as no one wants to air their dirty laundry in public that is exactly what happens, only for one of the group their secret ends up in murder. Full of escalating suspense this is a clever page turner of a book that withholds its final secret right up until its conclusion. The perfect summer read for fans of authors such as B A Paris and Clare Mackintosh, this will be a book you won’t want to miss. The Holiday will be published on 13 June 2019 A big thank you to the author T.M. Logan, publishers Bonnier Zaffre and NetGalley for my copy of this book in exchange for an honest and independent review. https://debbiesbookreviews.wordpress.com/2019/03/05/the-holiday-by-t-m-logan/ Overall, "The Holiday" annoyed me. The characters, adults and children alike, were obnoxious (except for young Daniel) and I didn't care what happened to any of them. The main protagonist, Kate, was one of the worst. Instead of confronting her husband when she thought he was having an affair with one of their friends, she spend most of the holiday looking for 'clues' and coming up with various assumptions to the point they became quite ridiculous. Considering she was supposed to be a police officer, I found the whole scenario quite unbelievable. "The Holiday" had a great premise and started well but the plot started to drag early on and the whole story became a bit much to bear. The ending was okay but by then I didn't care and just wanted to reach the last page. In exchange for an honest review, I received an advance copy from NetGalley. I read this book in one day— it really is that good. The copy that I received was sent to my Kindle, which is good because I wanted/didn’t want to skip to the end. Four college friends go on vacation with their families to France. What could possibly go wrong? Kate thinks her husband is having an affair with one of her friends after finding suspicious texts. The kids are all a handful in their own way. Suspenseful and not cheesy. This book should be made into a movie!!!!! aucune critique | ajouter une critique
"Four lifelong friends on a luxurious vacation come face-to-face with an explosive secret. It was supposed to be the perfect vacation, dreamed up by Kate as the ideal way to turn 40: four best friends and their husbands and children, spending a week in a luxurious villa under the blazing sunshine of Provence. But there is trouble in paradise. Kate suspects that her husband is having an affair-and that the other woman is one of her best friends. One of these women is willing to sacrifice years of friendship and destroy her family. But which one? As Kate closes in on the truth in the stifling Mediterranean heat, she realizes-too late-that the stakes are far higher than she ever imagined. And someone in the villa may be prepared to kill to keep their lies hidden"-- Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
