I jumped into this book without knowing there were two other books before it. I started reading and though they referenced prior incidents, I did not make the connection that there were previous books. It didn't read like it was part of a series. I finally looked to see if it was part of a series, once I was about half way through it. I did this because things just didn't seem to be fitting together right. The author did not do a very good job at connecting the this book to the things that were happening in the previous books.

In addition, it was a very slow read. I was more than half way through it before the story started coming together. I didn't really understand what was happening and there were a lot of characters to keep track of. And more kept being added. ( )
