( )Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I had my doubts about this book, and they were accurate. Unfortunately, I found the story confusing at times. I could not connect with it enough to keep intrested. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I favor the science fiction setting that are close to real time and alien invasion is just an added delight. This book covers both specifications.I found it was disjointed at times but the promise of continuing the story kept me going. I look forward to more from this author. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Personally I couldn't get through this book. It seemed interesting however the format confused me, as well as the changing perspectives. I couldn't figure out what was going on throughout the chapters I read. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. [Disclaimer: I got this book via LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program]This book is based on an idea not really new but interested anyway: a planet inhabited by some telepathic races who want to invade the Earth, killing all the people. While the invasors are setting their path, a teenager obtains the same power: he struggles to manage them and to warn the authorities about the impending invasion. The plot contains some superflous moments in which things are re-explained, but it is good except for the last chapter. I don't complain that the narration ends rather abruptly to leave space for the sequels; that's fair game. But what happens in that chapter does not fit with the assumptions we had throughout the text. Suspension of disbelief is ok, but there must be a deal with the reader and things must stay the same.
After investigating the scene of a seemingly routine crash of a commercial airliner, United States authorities discover a substance later determined to be of extraterrestrial origin. Authorities subsequently confirm that there are aliens on Earth, and their response to this intelligence ensues.Jake, a gifted sixteen-year-old high school student defined in his community by a tragic event, inherits superhuman cognitive abilities due to an alien encounter. Jake embarks on a journey to use his new abilities to help mankind prepare for an imminent alien invasion. The seemingly invincible and impenetrable aliens, who roam undetected among earthlings, are methodically plotting their invasion since their home planet is dying and has nearly been depleted of all resources required to sustain life.It becomes a race against time as Jake tries to save the world.Introspection: Transformation is the first installment of a trilogy.
