We enjoyed this book! It was sooo much fun to read out loud in a sing song. The illustrations were funny too. "Deep in the forrest in the dim moonlight, ten little chimps sneak out for the night...." ( )

Cha-Cha Chimps is an adorable counting book with a cute surprise at the end. It features very detailed illustrations of baby chimps doing various dances like the conga the tango. Each page also introduces a new animal. At the end, when all the little chimps are asleep, Mama Chimp is the 1 doing the cha-cha-cha. ( )

This book proved to be a little too long, making it difficult even for a preschool group. The chant before the cha-cha-cha is strange and most of the children failed to get into it. Not to mention some slight stereotyping when various world dances were mentioned.

If shortened, or altered it could be a great storytime addition...
