Bela Lugosi plays Dr Feodor Orloff, a physician turned insurance agent who has developed a line in cashing-in on policies via murder by using "human monster" Blind Jake (Wilfred Walter) as his weapon. It isn't long, however, before self-righteous cop Inspector Holt (Hugh Williams) is hot on his tail. "The Human Monster" aka "The Dark Eyes of London" is a cheaply made and thinly plotted effort that is more police procedural than horror. Most of the plotting is tedious with an over reliance on clunky exposition. The sets are cheap and stage-bound and the direction by Walter Summers is fairly rudimentary. On the positive side Bela Lugosi is pretty good and highly convincing as the arrogant, murderous Orloff. Blind Jake also makes for quite the horrific sight. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
