If the witches don't get him, the werewolves will. Fired from his job protecting the witches of Washington DC, David is now treading water at Hecate's Court, trying to redeem his reputation and put his life back together. His father says David has disgraced the family name. His new boss is a tyrant. And his best friend-a wolf shifter-is dragging him onto the front lines of an all-out supernatural war. Just when David thinks he'll never catch a break, he's summoned back to warder status, protecting an infuriating witch who has the strongest powers he's ever seen. Can one man juggle work, warfare, and warding Jane Madison?… (plus d'informations)

Yeah, I read this ages and ages ago, and then.... well, let's leave it at lots of hospital stays and other medical chaos in my family. On to the book itself: if you read the other reviews, you'll know that this is a retelling of a story originally told from the perspective of the witch in the title. I'm going to attribute the pacing inconsistencies to what happens when you're trying to fill in the gaps of a story you've already told, but they're more of an occasional thing than a constant bother. The characters (even the not-nice ones) are overall well-rounded, with an appropriate mix of good intentions and bad, just like people in reality. The Washington, D.C., of this world is apparently quite the hotbed of magical activity, and we meet all sorts of magical folk straight out of legend. In general, I would happily recommend this to anyone who is a bit tired of the "dark paranormal" and wants a wee bit of fluff in their urban fantasy.

I received this book in exchange for a review.
The book was okay. I can't say that I love it because I don't. Paranormal books are hard for me to enjoy. It's not the author. It's just me. If you like stories about witches and other paranormal activities, I don't think you'll have any issue with this book. If you typically don't like paranormal books, you can still try it, but just don't have any high expectations. ( )

A light read on the magical world of Washington. David Montrose has done almost everything wrong in the magical world and works a dead end job in an office under a boss who hates him. He's drawn back as a warder when he discovers a woman who is a witch, but she doesn't know that. There is a sideline about his best friend Connor who is a shifter and a pack leader. It is the first book by Mindy Klasky I'm reading and I have the feeling that I'm falling in the middle of a story and it's makes me curious about the other books. Nice enough read to give it four stars. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I got this book in the Librarything Early Reviewers. ( )

My apologies to Ms Klasky for taking so long to review this book. And because of that my review can not be detailed. I have read future books in this series so it was interesting to get some back story in the some of the main characters lives. I enjoyed this story, light and easy to read. Happy to continue to read others in the series.

I won a copy of The Library, the Witch, and the Warder by Mindy Klasky from LibraryThing. It took me a while to read it because life kept getting in the way, but I am glad I finally got around to it. It is set in magical Washington and is a wonderful antidote to the horrors of real DC these days. David is a humanly flawed main character, making mistakes for what he perceives to be good reasons, but of course most of them backfire. He has a BFF, Con, who is a shifter and also makes poor choices, but like David, he is genuinely a good guy. David is called to a new witch, Jane, who knows nothing about magic or the paranormal world around her. Needless to say, this causes much confusion, but she too is on the side of right, unlike David’s first witch. There is plenty of worldbuilding, so one does not need to read the other witch books by the author to appreciate this book. It was a light read that also touched on real issues. I now want to know what happens next for David and the others in his world. ( )
