It is informative, to the point, and full of useful exercises and suggestions. The book addresses the types of things one could need protection from; spirits, group energy, individuals, etc. Andrews then separates the myth from the fact about those things. The book also gives a lot of information about various ways of protecting oneself. There are meditations, aromatherapy, shielding, and simple psychology. Andrews is good about not creating an alarmist mentality where the reader is left thinking there are energy vampires or negative spirits lurking around every corner. Still, he provides tools for handling a wide range of "issues". There are other books that would be good books to read in conjunction with this one (Dion Fortune's Psychic Self Defense), but all in all, this is a very competent and down to earth book on this subject.
