"It's been a year since Poppy's husband, Jack, was brutally murdered during his morning run through Manhattan's Riverside Park. In the immediate aftermath, Poppy spiraled into an oblivion of grief, disappearing for several days only to turn up ragged and confused wearing a tight red dress she didn't recognize. What happened to Poppy during those lost days? And more importantly, what happened to Jack? The case was never solved, and Poppy has finally begun to move on. But those lost days have never stopped haunting her. Poppy starts having nightmares and blackouts--there are periods of time she can't remember, and she's unable to tell the difference between what is real and what she's imagining. When she begins to sense that someone is following her, Poppy is plunged into a game of cat and mouse, determined to unravel the mystery around her husband's death"--… (plus d'informations)

Under My Skin by Lisa Unger was sadly my first book by this author. I do not know how this has author has been off my radar for so long but hello Lisa Unger I see you it is so nice to meet you. This truly does get Under Your Skin. I loved the pace I loved Poppy and the story line was great! I want to apologize to All parties involved in this books production for my delayed review. It does not take away from how wonderful this book actually was. Poppy, A former travel photojournalist Now owns a boutique agency representing other photo journalist her husband Jack died years earlier attacked early one morning while running in a local park. After everything transpired poppy realizes There is a mysterious man Following her. She begins to doubt her sanity Because during the initial phase of her grief she has A nervous breakdown That involves a two-day blackout. She Starts To have dreams That deal with the period during her blackout And she slowly starts to put her pieces back together.
Under My Skin In one word Is addicting! It feels like we the readers are in a dazed dream and I for one loved every minute and every page turn that it had. The novel had a sense of hold on to your seats this is going to be a great ride! I wasn’t sure as the reader if I wanted to find out what happen to Jack or if that was just going to make things much worse for Poppy. I have read a large number of thrillers this ranks with the best of the best. I am not sure what Lisa Unger has in mind for her next book but SIGN ME UP! Thanks to Netgalley for my ARC and I apologize for my delay.

Another thriller involving another woman with a faulty memory; very Zeitgeist.
Poppy lost her husband who was brutally murdered and slumps into addiction where dreams and reality blur. It's a meandering story that keeps repeating and meandering until its sordid end. I might have enjoyed it more if there were less repetition - the hallucinations have the book a good ghost vibe - but I often found myself bored with the plot oh so slowly unveiled.
The writing is pretty good but the story was just too slow for me. ( )

Lisa Unger’s “Under My Skin” is an o.k. mystery. The unreliable narrator only makes the mystery more convoluted. Despite an unsatisfying climax/ending/resolution, this well written novel keeps you engaged. The grief associated with the murder of Poppy’s husband during his jog is enough of a premise to raise the novel above the run of mill cryptic plot. ( )

Wow, this book had me hooked from the very beginning, how can you lose days from your memory? Poppy did, just after the funeral of her husband who was brutally murdered. Seeing dead people, going into hypnagogia, not knowing what is real and what is a dream.
This was a really interesting read with twists and turns along the way. Hoping that the killer would be found. Also hoping Poppy would get rid of the pills and find out the truth.
I love a good psychological thriller and this had everything in it to make it an enjoyable but tense read. ( )

It's been a year since Poppy lost her husband, Jack, who was brutally murdered during a run through Manhattan's Riverside Park. She has never truly gotten over his death. And stranger still is the fact that Poppy disappeared after the funeral and later shows up in a tight red dress before collapsing. Poppy doesn't have a clue to what happened to her during those days, and the murder of Jack is still unsolved. Poppy is having nightmares and blackouts, and she has problems telling the difference between what is real and what's not. And now, she feels that she's being followed. Could it be all the pills she's taking or is someone actually following her?
