This is a story of dreaming big and working hard, of spectacular success and breathtaking failure, of shouted questions, and, at long last, whispered answers. With trademark wit and heart, Phil Vischer shares how God can use the death of a dream to point us toward true success. Larry. Bob. Archibald. These VeggieTales stars are the most famous vegetables you'll ever eat. Oops, meet. Their antics are known around the world. But so much of the VeggieTales story hasn't been told. In Me, Myself, and Bob, Phil Vischer, founder of Big Idea and creator of VeggieTales, gives a behind-the-scenes look at his not-so-funny journey with the loveable veggies. I have never seen a VeggieTales video, but I’ve heard of them. And even though I wasn’t really interested in reading about how this business was created and became a success in the world of children’s videos, what did intrigue me was how author and VeggieTales founder Phil Vischer described his experience building a business – told his story of how God used his failures and the death of a dream to point him to true success.

Despite the not-very-interesting-to-me business descriptions of profit and loss, what kept me turning the pages was the personable writing style and the story of Phil’s heartfelt pursuit of his dream to change the world for Christ. We have the hindsight to see his mistakes and poor decisions as he grew VeggieTales, and it isn’t until the conclusion that we learn this book originated as a commencement address – and he only wrote it at the urging of many people who heard his story and thought he should share it with as many people as possible.

Whether or not you have any familiarity with VeggieTales or other children’s faith-based video series, this is a fascinating memoir of a man with a dream who learned through his inspiring success and breathtaking failure to really listen to God’s voice. As the book jacket says, “Phil shares an amazing story that shows how God can use our failures and the death of a dream to point us toward true success.” ( )

This book shares the life of Phil Vischer, the man behind Veggietales, the most successful Christian straight to DVD movies. It tackles him going through his parents divorce, something that changes his life completely, going to college and failing out, and running and failing the company named Big Idea, the company behind Veggietales. This book is great because it shares light on divorce, which kids like Phil have to endue at any age, and how to deal with failure. I recommend this book for anyone that haas to study a famous person and doesn't want to read a boring auto-biography of a person. Chapters are easy to read and not long, plus you'll chuckle once or twice a chapter because he writes with humor. ( )

Very interesting story of the creator of Veggie Tales and how he lost the business. ( )

A great behind the scenes look at the rise and fall of Phil Vischer (and VeggieTales too). I appreciated his honesty and lessons learned in preparation for moving forward. I'm about 10 years late in reading this book so a lots happened since then but it was eye opening to hear how VeggieTales grew so fast and then imploded under its won weight. Lots of interesting business insights as well as what it means to be doing business while having a spiritual mission agenda. Highly recommended for creative and business types. ( )

Founder of Big Idea and creator of Veggie Tales, gives a behind-the-scenes look at his not-so-funny journey with the loveable veggies.
