I must admit that I was surprised at how different the books are from the show. But I do realize that is the way it normally goes. If you’re interested in a completely different take when it comes to this series I would strongly recommend your read the books. I was shocked to see that there are some similarities in the show as there are in the book but not enough similarity to make it appear to be the same story but still seem like the same story – the whole time I was reading I was imagining the girls as the characters that are in the show as opposed to their descriptions in the book – which is okay I guess but a bit odd when you cover their appearance in the book and you’re like wait no they look like this and then skip over whatever is written about how they look. Disappointed in the cliff hanger ending as I'd been hoping for more resolution. Obviously this is going to be spun out for a whole series, which I probably wouldn't mind if I was a younger reader. I liked the way the characters became endearing despite their (fairly major) flaws. Thought the Hanna and Emily storylines were strong (despite Hanna's mother), but found Spencer and Aria's set-ups much weaker and less convincing. The overall idea of a group of friends falling apart after a tragedy is great and works well. Also, the character of the dead girl comes through very strongly throughout the book.
Readers will certainly find enough drama to keep the pages turning, and they will no doubt have fun piecing together who and what could be behind those bizarre messages. Appartient à la sériePrix et récompensesListes notables
