Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I received a copy of this book through the Early Reviewers group. This book is authored by several experts in the field (including Renzulli who is a leader in gifted education theories), and is a useful resource. It provides a process to develop students into savvy digital researchers and independent thinkers. I found the online templates a useful resource and plan to implement several of them as students move through independent research projects in my classroom. In the present educational field, concepts like innovation, 21st century skills, student engagement, higher order thinking, and technology are being presented to teachers (some would argue pushed) for teaching our next generation of students. The Schoolwide Enrichment Model is one of many strategies/plans/concepts that is being implemented in schools to achieve the end of teaching that next generation. This book in particular focuses on applying the concept of technology to the model. With the end of facilitating the work for teachers in general by providing guided templates and resources. The book itself is well organized and presented. It is also easy adaptable to handpicking certain templates that could be use in lessons. What I like most is the resources presented that are free or likely to be free if used for educational purposes, yet I have not doubt that some would require payment before having full features or be able to use. At the very least, I can share some of the resources presented and expand our knowledge in our professional learning communities. The book is also presented for use with highly skilled and gifted students, but obviously with a schoolwide implementation possibility as the model's name aptly reminds us off. Not all schools could implement this model with technology. Educators need to keep in mind the resources of the school when trying to implement some of the strategies, as it could be the case, the resources might not be available or compatible for classroom use. School and district policies in regard to technology use should also be observed or consulted beforehand to avoid problems. I do not poses the resources to evaluate the extensive list of reference for the book, but I do note that, as a common factor, the research seems to average past the 5 year old mark and the technological resources are more recent. Which in my opinion is normal and gives us the clear picture that technology is still a new concept in education. There is also not a ton of research focus on the impact technology has in education whether for good or ill. The focus point only seems to be that technology is so present in everyday life and is a huge engagement tool for students that educators would be remiss to not utilize to reach their pupils. As a teacher in today's classroom, it is imperative to incorporate technology into lessons. Children of all types respond and focus better using various technologies. This book points you in the right direction. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I was excited to receive this book as an educator to get new ideas of latest technology trends and ways to provide enrichment opportunities for ALL my students. It does a nice job of breaking down the model, defining, implementation, ideas, etc. I found this reference to be very resourceful. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I enjoyed every minute that I had reading this book. I like the fact that it is very thorough and very simple with the usage of concepts that have to do with technology in the classroom. I wish that this book was available sooner when I was still in college so that I could show it to my professor and so that I could have used it for the various papers I had to write. While I was reading the book, I also found a lot of useful diagrams that breakdown the different techniques on using technology. It was also very basic and thorough on how teachers can encourage students to create their own websites and how to explain to the students how the websites could be created. I also like the fact that it has ideas on how to use technology with special needs and how to make technology mainstream in the classrooms. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Using the Schoolwide Enrichment Model With Technology is an extension of a talent development model implemented in more than 2,500 schools across the U.S. and widely used internationally. More than 40 years of research and development have documented the effectiveness of the SEM approach to promoting higher level thinking skills and creative productivity. This solution-oriented book, unlike other books focused on using technology in the classroom, recognizes that digital technologies are changing and evolving at lightning speeds. Our effective skills for using technology transcend time by focusing on how to find and use digital resources and tools rather than listing the resources that already exist. Focusing on the skills that support critical thinking and problem solving, decision making, and communication, the authors seamlessly merge technology to launch students toward independent productivity. This accessible and highly practical guide is rich with examples that will change the way you think about education while providing hands-on how-to guidance for creating a culture of excellence and innovation in your school and classroom.
