![]() Aucun Actuellement, il n'y a pas de discussions au sujet de ce livre. It is the first day of first grade! First grade students begin to realize that first grade is very different from Kindergarten! There are not as many fun colors in the classroom, they have to write more and there is no nap time! At first it seems that first grade is horrible for the students. The teacher tells the students that by the end of first grade, the students are going to be able to read full chapter books by themselves! This excites this students. Then the students realize that kindergarten stinks, not first grade. I read this in my first grade classroom during the second week of school. It worked really well! Some of the students in my class really did begin to miss kindergarten. Some of the students agreed that they missed nap time and their old kindergarten teacher just like the kids in the book. But by the end of the book, the students agreed with the students in the book that first grade is better than kindergarten! This book is for sure a book to read to children entering first grade. This book follows along Haley as she experiences her first day of first grade. She is not used to her first grade class because it is not kidnergarten. As the day goes on she adapts to her classroom. This book will definetly help children entering first grade realize that although it may be different from kindergarten, first grade will be lots of fun and they will learn so much! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

I can understand how it can be difficult for a young child to go through the early year transitions in school. School it a very different environment then what children are use to at home. They spend all year going through one grade and then the next year it changes and they aren’t ready to accept or deal with that change. Some understand that it needs to change and some just go with the flow where others want to hang back and decide if they like the change or not. Haley is the kind of child that hung back until she decided she was okay with the change.
This is a wonderful book that I think any child going from Kindergarten to First Grade would benefit from being read to or with. It helps children to see that the transition is normal and for some children that might be all they need to survive such a stepping stone in their educational careers. (
