For many years I have been intending to write a guide to the hillforts and prehistoric settlements of Ceredigion (Cardiganshire).

These lines of modern verse, prominently displayed in the foyer of the glass-and-steel office of the Welsh Government at Rhodfa Padarn in Aberystwyth, reference the brooding presence of the mighty Pen Dinas hillfort on the hilltop nearby, and ask our Iron Age ancestors to give the blessing of good leadership, across two millennia, to the politicians and civil servants of the present day.
