I love the blend of film noir with 80s tech and neon in the artwork. The story was interesting, with a blend of classic detective plus voodoo deities. The ending definitely left me wanting more. The cast of characters were intriguing. I really like the style and I hope that this continues. I received this from Net Galley for my honest opinion. ( )

A dark, trippy collection of Limbo #1-6.

The main character is an amnesiac private investigator, hired to protect a lounge singer from a mob boss. Taking a page from the horror movie The Ring, it turns out the mob boss has a shaman/bodyguard who can snatch people through television screens. The PI's only hope for assistance is his rescuer/landlord, a green-skinned girl who worships/summons her deities by dancing to tapes on her Walkman.

As you can tell by the number of /slashes/ in my descriptions, things in this book aren't easily summarized. Nearly nothing is what it initially appears to be, and the title itself should give you a clue that we're in a sort of metaphysical universe. But the storyline, while murky in parts, is unusual and entertaining, and the various gods/entities we encounter are appropriately mysterious.

The art is a bit scratchy for my personal taste, but it fits the mood of the book well. A couple of the color choices seemed strange to me (why is there one green-toned girl, but everyone else looks normal/human?), but that didn't detract from the story.
