Interesting start to a new series. Set in the year 3001, Earth has become a prison planet, and most humans live on Mars. The government there is corrupt and oppressive, and anyone not following the letter of the very strict law (no drinking, being gay carries a death sentence, and women and black people have no right at all) is sentenced to the mines on Earth. So far, so good.

Enter Chaos, a badass member of a biker gang who has just been sentenced to six months on Earth for drinking alcohol. s he explores his new environment, I learned what was going on and quickly agreed with him that the government needed to fall. Chaos turns out to be all tough on the outside, but deep down he is a decent guy. Well, as decent as a badass biker gets, I guess. He quickly finds out who rules (and it's not the guards) and begins to make a name for himself in fights. Of course there is also a love interest, though Chaos wouldn't admit so under torture - at least at first.

The prison environment is suitably gritty, the guards and prison rulers predictably cruel, and sex is as common and shared by all as the daily fights. Trough it all James Cox manages to portray Chaos as the good guy, a man with only one hope: to be reunited with his lover who returns to Mars three months ahead of him.

If you like tough men and bikers, if prison erotica is your thing, and if you're looking for an entertaining read with as much violence as sex, then you might like this novella.
