Fiction. Romance. HTML:

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes the second installment in the Saints of Denver series featuring a bad girl and a by the book attorney who could be her salvation...or her ruin.

Avett Walker and Quaid Jackson's worlds have no reason to collide. Ever. Quaid is a high powered criminal attorney as slick as he is handsome. Avett is a pink-haired troublemaker with a bad attitude and a history of picking the wrong men.

When Avett lands in a sea of hot water because of one terrible mistake, the only person who can get her out of it is the insanely sexy lawyer. The last thing on earth she wants to do is rely on the no-nonsense attorney who thinks of her as nothing more than a nuisance. He literally has her fate in his hands. Yet there is something about him that makes her want to convince him to loosen his tie and have a little fun...with her.

Quaid never takes on clients like the impulsive young woman with a Technicolor dye job. She could stand to learn a hard lesson or two, but something about her guileless hazel eyes intrigues him. Still, he's determined to keep their relationship strictly business. But doing so is becoming more impossible with each day he spends with her.

As they work side-by-side, they'll have to figure out a way to get along and keep their hands off each otherâ??because the chemistry between them is beyond charged.… (plus d'informations)

Charged had a deeper sense of danger, but also some more fun than Built included. I really enjoyed getting to know Avett better, as I had thought she was simply a spoiled princess, but she was so much more. And she completely brought out the humanity Quaid had tried to get rid of by becoming the most successful defence lawyer in Denver.

Because it started with Avett in prison, because she was charged with having done a hold-up she had no idea was going to happen, the tension between her and Quaid was palpable from the beginning. At first, it was more irritation than chemistry, but that changed rather quickly. Both Quaid and Avett needed someone who could show them that a different way of living might be much more satisfying than what they had been doing up until that point.

The suspense was really well done, and I enjoyed how smart Avett was in Charged – she showed that she was a grown-up who was capable of making tough decisions and sticking with them. Written in dual point of view as the rest of the Saints of Denver series, I loved the banter between Avett and Quaid, as they had strong personalities and both wanted to be right. I read this with some friends and found myself needing more from this author. ( )

I didn't expect to love Avett and Quaid as much as I do. Well done Jay Crownover! Full review will be on The Book Disciple

This book was sizzling!

Thanks to the little hints we got in Built, I was eager to start this one. It was just as much fun as it was serious and I really enjoyed that. The suspenseful plotline near the end was a welcomed surprise as well.

These two had a great connection that balanced their relationship in a fantastic way. I'm not sure what stopped me from totally loving them together (maybe it was the slight insta-connection they had?) but, regardless, I enjoyed their journey from start to end.

Can't wait to start the next one!

One thing can happen in your life that can cause you so much shame and grief that from that point you sabotage any thing good in your life and live with the crap at the bottom barrel where you think you deserve to be. Avett Walker may be in her early twenties but she has been punishing herself for years for a past transgression. To most around her she just looks like a self centered brat that doesn't care about how her actions hurt others. But that couldn't be further from the truth.

Avett has found herself locked in jail for a serious crime that she didnt commit but as it was her junkie abusive boyfriend that did it and that is was against people that cared for her deepened her guilt even more. At the start of this book you think its just going to be Avett's journey to dealing with her past demons and finally coming out of the darkness she punished herself with but Quaid Jackson who is her lawyer and presents himself to the world as a very put together fancy suit wearing man has past he has been running from himself and from the outside it wouldn't look like the pink haired full of attitude Avett and Quaid would have anything in common but underneath all of that they are two like souls.

It always helps when you can relate to the character that your reading and I could certainly do that with Avett and Quaid. Even being at lucky as Avett was with having a father that loved me no matter I done in the past or any situations I mind find myself into today. I loved taking the journey with these two to as they faced their demons together and fell in love along the way. ( )
