Dragon's Heir is a brilliant follow up to Dragon's Future. Honestly I've become so involved with the characters I feel so happy to see Braidyn grown up and a dragon rider in his own right. The imagery is vivid, and the story is well-paced. I greatly enjoyed watching Braidyn explore the world and his place in it while meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, and facing difficult decisions. ( )

Dragon's Heir by Kandi J. Wyatt is the second installment of the Dragon Courage series. Ten winters have went by since the first book. Rider Braidyn and his dragon, Turqueso, have made a home, so to speak, in the town of Boeskay. He finds out that two nestlings have been stolen and he vows to find out who is responsible.

This is one of my most favorite series. I absolutely adore the characters that I have come to know. Kandi's ability to have family times included in her books is heartwarming. Her writing is smooth and flows wonderfully. This is a wonderful story for all ages. ( )

Once again Kandi Wyatt has written a book full of adventures and of course dragons. We meet up with Braidyn who is grown up and determined to locate two stolen nestlings. He manages to find one of them. When he tracks down the thief of the second one, and learns why Sarai took the nestling, things change. Braidyn learns much about himself and what he has been longing for. This is the sequel to Dragon’s Future. Both of these books are must reads, especially for those people who love fantasy, dragons and adventure.
I received a copy to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own. ( )

There are good elements to this book, but the writing style, story flow and character development are all a little immature and rushed. I think that as the author matures so too will the writing style, which will make for a more enjoyable read in future stories. The story was a bit rushed and extra detail was given to aspects int he story that were not important (creating a salad and frying fish), while other more important events and character developments were rushed and not expounded upon much. There are the makings of a good story that could be improved upon once the author has matured their style a bit more. ( )

I bought book 1 so that I would not be behind in the story with book 2, Dragon's Heir. Although the story had elements that I like to read about; dragon, mind speaking, as well as other magical abilities and the bond between dragon and rider, I thought that too much happened too quickly and then had to be explained away. Extraordinary traits, dramatic character reversals and glaring good versus evil seriously detracted from the flow of the story and created a childish, explain it all away atmosphere. Having read both books, one after the other allowed me to be able to follow the story line, but still there were people and places that were dropped from one book to the next with little reasonable explanation.
I recognize that the story place and idea had changed, but it felt abrupt and it was difficult to maintain a reasonable interest in the events of the story. It ended up being a book that I was waiting for the last page so I would be done instead of dreading the last page because the story stopped.
I believe in these books and the entire story line and characters, but I would like to send them back for a makeover. I am hoping this is a young writer (either chronologically or young to writing) and that the books will only improve as time goes by. ( )
