Second chance romance.
Heroine is quite emotional through this book, it didn't bother me as Blake missed more and more milestones of his son's life I think you'd miss him more.
I did wish he hadn't died, she seemed really happy with him and Reed I wasn't too sure about.

I got a bit annoyed with Reed. There were times he needed to put his foot down with other women flirting esp as it had been an issue that led to their breakup. For example Kim, all this time later and she's still trying and the girls at the bar with the photo's NO WAY. ( )

This is the first in the Southern Boys series and I have to say I'm looking forward to reading more. heartbreaking at times, I recommend plenty of tissues at hand. The author touches on the difficult subjects of love, betrayal and forgiveness, as well as admitting past misdemeanors in Reed's case.

Although the story is slow-paced I felt that it was about the right speed for this particular book, as it enabled time to fully appreciate the feelings of the characters. ( )

♦♦♦♦ I received an arc in exchange for an honest review ♦♦♦♦

This book at the beginning with have you getting the tissues out.

A story of a person who doesn't think after everything that has happened deserves any happiness.

A story of second chances and a realisation that they do happen.

I found this to be a good read and a sweet romance. ( )

Have you ever wished you could get a do over? Young love sometimes can end prematurely due to adolescent hormones. Forgiving Reed is a second chance, new adult romance that explores this topic with an additional twist of first having to learn how to grieve and accept the loss of a prior love. If you're looking for a sweet, country romance with a good old-fashioned cowboy, then Forgiving Reed may just be the book you were looking for.

Having left her best friend and first love, Reed, when she found him fooling around with another girl, Kori moved on to a big city, went to college and found the man she thought would be the one she would spend the rest of her life with. Fate, however, dealt her cruel hand, when just as their son was to be born, Blake died in a car accident. Her life both began and ended that day, as the accident also caused the premature birth of her son, Rhett.

Left alone as a single mother with a newborn to raise, Kori does the only thing she can imagine to survive: she moves back home to her small town of Brooklet, Georgia to be near her parents. Devastated she spends the first few months grieving. Then at the behest of one of her childhood girlfriends, she does the unthinkable and tries to start living again. While out one night she runs into Reed. Although she tries her best to avoid him, and the hurtful thoughts of betrayal that she associates with him, it doesn't take long before their paths keep crossing.

Reed wishes he could take back that one night when he let his teenage shortsightedness cost him the love of his life. He is determined to prove just that to Kori if she would just give him a chance. When it becomes clear that Kori is intent on avoiding him, however, he tries for the next best thing, and does what he can to prove his friendship. In that regard, he wants to help Kori's life easier and starts doing what he can to help her with her son. Soon he is falling for not just Kori all over again, but also Rhett. Will Kori be able to find the courage to forgive Reed and move on with the direction that both their hearts are intent on following?

I love stories with strong alpha males, who will do anything to protect the woman they love. Add in that same protective streak and fierce love and dedication towards a child, particularly one who is missing a parent figure, and you have a definite recipe for success in my book. While cheating is a difficult subject area, I think this is one story that quite possibly might be the exception to my general rule that it is completely unforgivable. All in all, I enjoyed Forgiving Reed and particularly loved how far Reed was willing to go to win back over the love of his life.

I can't wait to see how Gavin's and Maria's romance evolves in book 2 of the Southern Boys series, Finding Gavin, due out in 2015! The teaser of their story in this book was quite interesting and I imagine Gavin will be another cowboy who will have to put on his gentlemanly charm to show just far he is willing to go to prove that he too has changed, and is worthy of Maria's love and trust.
