I always enjoy going back to these first 4 issues and seeing the beginning of things again. ( ) This is a highly entertaining comic about an unlikely trio of girls bouncing through their first year of college somewhere in Britain. I think almost any girl can find shades of herself in one (or more) of them: I (like my daughter) identify most strongly with Susan, but I'm pretty sure I have bits of both Esther and Daisy as well. The lovely friendship between these 3 girls (and the boys who love them) is what propels the story forward, and this volume ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so now I will pine for the next volume!
Giant Days is a fun, clever, witty, and effortlessly enthralling read that I blew through in a single sitting and closed it wanting more - in other words, it’s a first-rate comic. The creative team are at the top of their game and it’s pure joy to experience. Don’t be like me and put this off - believe the hype, Giant Days is all that! Allison does a wonderful job establishing personalities through dialogue and coming up with interesting occurrences, while Treiman’s figures are beautifully animated in their movements and expressions. "Susan, Esther, and Daisy started at university three weeks ago and became fast friends. Now, away from home for the first time, all three want to reinvent themselves. But in the face of hand-wringing boys, "personal experimentation," influenza, mystery-mold, nu-chauvinism, and the willful, unwanted intrusion of "academia," they may be lucky just to make it to spring alive. Going off to university is always a time of change and growth, but for Esther, Susan, and Daisy, things are about to get a little weird."--provided from Amazon.com.
