This is a useful and interesting book, but far from the 'ultimate guide' that the author would like you to believe. Begoun's advice is overly preoccupied with wrinkles, ignoring a whole host of other beauty concerns. The contents of this book fall under the category of 'good to know' even if you don't agree with everything. ( )

A great no-nonsense guide to looking after your skin, both face and body, for women, men and children. While the author has her own line of products, this is in no way an advertisement for her own business, and she recommends other brands throughout the book.
However, most of the information is not tied to what brand of product to buy, rather an explanation of what does and doesn't work, and why. Not surprisingly, you learn that the more expensive products are usually not the best; simple is almost always better; and wearing sunscreen is about the most important thing you can do.
Informative about almost all beauty concerns - from how to deal with breakouts to what cosmetic surgery procedures are available to how to apply make-up - this is a book for anyone who wants to know the most effective, and cost effective, way to care for the skin they are living in. ( )

I don't think the previous state of my beauty routine was nearly as dire as the blurb from the back of the book makes it sound; however, I definitely feel that this book has helped me to streamline that process, and has given me the tools to make more informed decisions regarding my skin care purchases.
