A great foundation for the beginning of a new series that I think will absolutely tug on our heart strings The story was completely unexpected.

Sayer was a fabulous heroine. She was the kind of heroine I love to read about because I see a little of myself in her. It was both frustrating and rewarding to watch the vulnerability she tries to hide unravel. Loved her journey.

Zeb was so endearing. A gentle giant no matter what his past consists of. He was kind, passionate, and true. He wasn't just Mr. Fix It he was a bearded superman ready to take on the world. A truly caring and selfless guy. It was so enjoyable reading about him and his journey as well. It was definitely one I didn't see coming but was do happy it happened.

Zeb and Sayer had amazing chemistry and the sexy times were plenty got but their love story was a tender one. I loved that the most. Built was everything o wanted to to be, really, and more than I could have ever asked for. Jay Crownover is a gem. I'm super pumped about this series and cannot wait for more. ( )

When you read a romance and find yourself wishing the hot main guy would just dump the main girl to find somebody else.......it's not a good sign! OMG....what a chore this was to read. Sayer's issues were ridiculous since her Dad, the cause of them, was dead! Hello.....smart enough to be a lawyer but too damn dumb to get a shrink. I almost DNF'd but made myself skim it since I had bought it already!
It was a waste of my time even skimming it. I just can't take an entire book where one of the leads can't get it together and spends the entire time pushing the hot guy away. UGH.....even the sex wasn't that hot because after a while it just wasn't believable anymore. It had so much descriptive detail without much dialogue....not my preference. ( )

This is a heartwarming story of a 5 year old boy united with his father when his mother dies.

Zeb knew nothing about the child until the mother's friend arrives on his job site. He is immediately willing to take the boy as his own ... I think he would have done this even if the paternity test didn't prove his fatherhood.

Then legal proceedings start...

I'll say no more but the book is a lot about love. To have connection and support from a community of family and friends. It's about wanting to do the right thing. It's about the power of love, and the power of not being loved as a child to damage the psyche irreparably.

As it turns out, the legal proceedings, led by attorney Sayer, is the part that runs smoothly. The romance between the dad and the attorney faces many roadblocks. Sayer is an ice queen - how she became that way is explained fully, but as smart as she is, her past rules her view of herself and hence her decisions. It seems crazy, and it's a lesson about how distorted someone's view of themselves can be - to their own destruction. Sad indeed.

Thank goodness for the guaranteed HEA! Don't care if it seems tacked on, because there's always enough drama without an unresolved issue at the end of the novel taking root in our subconscious to worry our bared souls. ( )

This book is both different and similar to other Jay Crownover books. Sayer isn't a strong woman getting her man in line. Zeb doesn't 'save' her. I always appreciated Sayer in previous books, but it took me some time to really warm up to her in this one. Zeb is GREAT! My full review will be on The Book Disciple ( )

I've only read one other book by her so far and I liked this one a whole lot more, so I'll def be on the look out the rest of the series. ( )
