This review was written for LibraryThing Member GiveawayHaidji’s Fancy & Adriaan is a short work about a fairy and an elf who love and help each other. They are separated when Fancy goes to the world of the humans but love will prevail when even when hope is perceived to be lost. I wasn’t sure if the fairy tale was prose or a poem in free verse since it reads aloud beautifully. But who is the target audience? Children wouldn’t understand the story, as the concepts were adult in nature and there were no illustrations in spite of the fact that the author is also an artist. Adults might feel that a story this short (reading time about a half hour at most) isn’t for them even if they read fantasy literature. In spite of these reservations, I did enjoy the book. Cette critique a été rédigée pour LibraryThing Member Giveaways. Fancy & Adriaan is a whimsical story of a fairy and elf -- 2 parts of one being. It was a delightful short read set in a poetic format. I chose to read it as regular prose. Cette critique a été rédigée pour LibraryThing Member Giveaways. I received this book through LT for my honest review. Clever, refreshing, delightful, cute. I loved it! Fancy & Adriaan is a wonderfully written quick read. The storyline is simple yet intricate, short yet powerful. The perspective is fresh and the writing style is unique and commendable- it is different then I what I've been reading all these years. The whole idea revolving around the book is deep, profound and has been conveyed in a fine manner. An adventure spun in a beautiful manner, this magical journey is a must read! aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Do you believe in love? Do you really Believe in love?Fancy & Adriaan is a fairy tale; a real love story.Fancy was born in a flower, in a distant world. Adriaan was born over tree branches, in the same world. As a fairy and as an elf, they lived their lives and their platonic love, in that world. One day, Fancy decided to seek permission to go to the human world. Will Fancy & Adriaan's love survive? I found this short story to be so simple and a little bit thought provoking.
It was sweet. The love story itself was cute.
Haiji has in this fine simple way of telling a story, it’s like she states the problem then its cause and finally the result/or not and move on to the next chapter. (And all done in short understandable sentences)
Yes, simple (I keep repeating this word but that’s the best way to describe Fancy & Adriaan, Simple)
I find it great that this is only a short story because This one in particular felt like bedtime story for a child where you try to explain to him that Love isn’t one sided for one and it’s certainly not just a feeling but a combination of thoughts and feels well blend in together to create that unique connection that real couple (who might never exist) share. So writing more on this world and characters wouldn't be that intersting.
