An okay story which is obviously a start to a new series...because in reality there was no closure whatsoever in this book. It's a different take on shifters, that is for sure and some of the terminology used threw me, because it's used to differently to other shifter stories. ( )

Definitely not your average shifter story, and that is aside from the male pregnancy, this first book of a new series set off the storyline for however many books will follow with a major bang. I have to admit I'm a real fan of male pregnancy - I think because it's just so far removed from our reality that there's no doubt we're talking fantasy. But this book adds another potential obstacle that made it a really interesting read: Westley, the omega wolf, is already pregnant with someone else's child when Roarke, the alpha luna wolf finds him. Most humans cannot even deal with that situation (see all the stories about evil stepmothers and stepfathers!), how the heck is a super-possessive alpha werewolf going to handle it? I loved this extra twist and couldn't wait to find out.

Westley has been captured and abused by a pack of cruel werewolves out to kill all luna wolves, and my heart went out to him. On top of being tortured he is pregnant and worried about his baby being as malnourished as he is. When Roarke unexpectedly saves him, he knows the man/wolf is his mate, but cannot imagine him accepting his baby as well. I cannot blame Westley for doubting Roarke, not after everything he's already been through.

Roarke, however, shows more maturity than most humans are capable of, and includes the unborn child in his love. Good for him! He fights for Westley and their unborn child and remains determined to make their own pack. Several twists, turns, and setbacks follow, but the one thing that remains is his determination to make a home for the both of them - as well as assorted other wolves they pick up on the way.

If you like paranormal stories that challenge your ability to suspend disbelief, if you enjoy reading about mates who are truly meant for each other, and if you're looking for a read with lots, and lots, and lots of hot shifter-on-shifter action, then you will probably like this novella. ( )

This was really good. It reminded me of some of the twoof fanfic I read. I loved the mpreg aspect of this book and the different breeds of werewolves. This had hot love scenes and a good plot. Look forward to checking out the rest of the series. ( )
