This was a delightful story about pets. The author begins by blaming her husband for their abundance of animals, but as it unfolds, the reader begins to understand that she’s in just as deep as he is.

Ms. Peterson’s sense of humor and lovely storytelling take you on a journey of how she came to adopt and raise dozens of different kinds of animals, from domestic to wild, through the course of her marriage. From the joys, to the challenges to the heartache, it’s all there in loving detail. A “must read” for animal lovers everywhere, and I would recommend it, even if you don't have any pets.

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review and Amy,-This is the most wonderful and amusing story I have read in such a long time. You have created something so spectacular and amazing, so well done you. This book is so precious

The writing is so pleasurable, such an easy read. I really adore books like this, that you feel as tho you are one of the characters and it makes you feel like its happening to you. Just reading this wonderful, amusing story and just let the imagination go wild and suddenly you will be laughing and sometimes screaming., but be warned there will be tears also.

You will be exhausted at times running after the little fellas, and there's so many different species coming to live all in one household ....there are frogs, Lizards, baby hedgehogs, ferrets and let me tell you something.....Iv always wanted aFerret myself one day; trouble is seeing Coco she has literally worn me out, but Chunky is another matter entirely - this little guy is priceless, so gorgeous...doesn't bite or nothing. But that Coco, you would never have adays piece...she's just like an extremely extremely mischievous young child, always getting into trouble, always stealing things and digging and chewing. But like I said, there are so many heart breaks within the story also and that's mainly becaz the writing is so good..you can feel all the love and pain these little fellas give out.

I just can't put this book down, and you realise that you are reading faster and faster becaz you need to know whats happening next to these little guys. You also get to realise the husband is going to get another pet of some sort unusual and it will make you intrigued in finding what sort they will have next.

Becaz Amy had given me a copy of this book of hers, I had not read what she had written to say that she had experienced all these animals herself, and that Mr Biologist was husband. It was so cleverly written and like I already mentioned so much love was given to these animals. This is such a warm book, and a lovely way of remembering your pets. So once more, Congrats Amy. Thanks for sharing with us your funny and strange, but lovely pets.

Reading this wonderful beautiful book is bringing back the most precious memories of my pets..my Genea pigs, dogs, Rabbits and the cats and all the funny times we encountered with them, not forgetting the heartbreaks also. But luckily the pain heals eventually, so you reminisce bout all the good times and all the love you received from your pets.

I asked Amy if I could share this most 'Beatiful' link with everyone and add this onto my review and luckily Amy said I could as this shows a lot of her photos with her animals:

Edit: 24th November 2013

Amy has other books that I feel as tho I should mention about, they are slightly bit different from this one..more for the younger reader - special needs will love these - and the 'Photographs', oh my goodness, they are WONDERFUL-AMAZING read.

"Dusty, the Angel pup".
"Bumpkins get big"
"Goodnight, Mr Wuzzy"
"Purrkins, the cat"

Like I pointed out to Amy, these four books would make a wonderful first read for a small child or young person learning to read, my daughter who has special-needs sat up closer to me whilst I was reading these books to her so she could see the wonderful photos of Amy's pets and the expression on her face was priceless. All these books are priceless, such a treasure and Amy herself is a treasure to know also. So a big thanks once again my sweetheart with love from your favourite fan.

Amy's Blog which she's given me permission to share with everyone, so thanks Amyhttp://www.petbloglady.com/2013/12/so...

In her second memoir, Something Furry Underfoot, author Amy L. Peterson weaves a humorous and touching account of her family's adoption and growing menagerie of pets, and helpful tips for the pet lover/owner. This enchanting story is written in a witty style, the author's love for animals is clearly evident in her true life account of living and caring for a variety of animals that her husband and stepkids added to their family.

As an animal lover and pet owner of four fur babies (1 Brown Lab, 2 Bichon Frise, and 1 Poodle), I can relate to Amy's menagerie of animals. Growing up I raised rabbits, had parakeets, dogs and the occasional hermit crab, and the feelings of love and care for each of my animals is filled with wonderful memories and humorous trials and tribulations that are locked in my heart forever.

I thought that Something Furry Underfoot was a wonderful story. It is filled with snippets of humor that will keep you in stitches, and the inspirational love for animals will have fellow pet owners nodding their head in agreement and admiration. Animal lovers and pet owners will learn a lot from Amy's helpful pet tips, it's a must read for anyone who already has an animal, or wants to add an animal to their family.

Animals have a way of touching a person's heart and life with an unconditional love that is like no other.

Kudos to Amy for writing a truly heartwarming and enjoyable story that all animal lovers will adore.

Completely irresistible... A great book! It was funny, sad and shows how owner and best friend are not always on the same page. Amy L. Peterson is so eloquent that she expressed what many of us have felt with our animals -- only so much better than we can express it. I simply could not put this book down. It was so funny, so inspiring - I wouldn't mind being one of their pets.

Simply a joy in reading. I was so sorry when I finished it, so I will reread in the future. Very well written. Kept my attention and allowed me to become immersed in the story. It is hysterically funny in parts and will make you cry in others. This book touched on many of the same issues that have been finding their way into my own life. I think you would enjoy and appreciate this amazing story. ( )

"Something Furry Underfoot" is an eclectic, humorous title which denotes that the book will probably be setup in the same manner. Once I started reading, I found it slightly witty with the usage of metaphors and silly expressive names used in context to share the phenomenon of stray animals having a place to stay in their home. These animals become part of the family, aside from their demanding degrees or careers of the parents (Mark and Amy) with four children already.

Amy L Peterson also clearly expresses tip points throughout the passages. The second tip stuck with me; clearly saying if you take one pet, you will easily take in another animal. So far, I took in a stray who was pregnant with babies of three and only kept one of the babies with the mother (so does this actually count for two? Then this rule would apply; otherwise, I do not plan to take in another). However, nothing like what was stated in the book where there are multiple animals in their household.

Ironically, most of the animals are either exotic or pets that I would not typically want. I don't know how Amy did it, with a husband who kept bringing pets in and not sure if I would have dealt with it this long. Then they try breeding certain pets they've had in their home and realize it is not profitable as expected. I laughed at ferrets being like two year olds, not listening to orders. But the expense illustrated in the book, I see why I never wanted a ferret as a pet. Even to find one can be a difficult task as well as the expense of vet bills.

I agree that it is harder to say good-bye to a pet than hello as aforementioned in one of the tips. I still cry over one of my childhood dogs named Chico.

I would suppose those who are interested in pets, exotic animals, breeding, and a witty furry animal type of book as a pet owner may enjoy this read.
