The Story:

I love this book. It’s a kick off to a series I think I’m really going to enjoy. Strong female lead, hot hero with a heart of gold, close knit family and humor. Oh, and a diabolical villain. It’s all my favorite things. I listened to this in less than 24 hours so that should tell you how much I liked it. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review is I’ll probably never reread it. I want it to stay perfectly in my memory as is. I can’t wait to continue the series.

I loved this story and the only reason I didn't give it a five is all of the editing issues. It was prevalent throughout the entire book. Sam is a retired Ranger, who set up shop and compound to help support his teams efforts to save the abused with the Freedom project. Cheyenne is the sister of one of his men. Sam sees Cheyenne enter the bar and even though he doesn't know who she is, he knows she's his. Sam takes her virgin self to a the bar to sulk, alone on her birthday and ends up leaving with Sam. The chemistry between these two is off the charts but Cheyenne leaves the next day thinking it was a one time thing and but Sam knows different. The author then adds a danger element as someone is stalking Sam and his people, leaving notes and killing. There are familiar story elements but I was engaged from the beginning and read it straight through, some great laugh out loud moments. ( )

This is the first book of Lani Lynn Vale's that I have read and I absolutely loved it! I have done nothing but sit in my chair all day and read this. I loved all the characters. Sam and Cheyenne were perfect for each other. I am going to go read the next one in this series immediately! ( )
