I have a few problems with this one. One is everything is written as Nikki's point of view, when most of the story is actually about Damien. It would be better if it had been written as his point of view. The next problem is Nikki herself. Her answer to everything is sex. A lot of the time she is way to focused on herself and obsessively avoiding reality. She comes off as severely mentally unbalanced. Page after page of Nikki using sex with Damien to avoid her fears slows down the story and takes away from the eroticism.
There is a good story here. A lot of suspense any mystery. Even though you are given clues throughout, the end of who is behind the different events comes as a bit of a surprise. If some sex scenes had been blue penciled out and used for the suspense, this would have been a much better read.
I didn't catch any editing errors and the writing is basically flawless. There are some truly beautiful sections in the story. I wish the author had written Nikki's character taking Damien's advice in the book;
“At the end of the day, it’s just you and me. We make our own reality, Nikki. And no one can take it from us.”
I really liked it, but I loved the first two books in the series. ( )

Overly dramatic and angsty, this final novel has some unexpected twists and turns but the overall story is a rehash of the themes from the previous novels. Continuing their story. Damien's childhood abuse is revealed, Nikki battles her cutting through out. They have several outsiders wreaking havoc on their relationship. It was frustrating reading about Nikki's struggles and she doesn't reach out for the professional help she knew helped her previously. The BDSM is definately not formal, is more play and pretense. Sometimes they seem unshakeable and then it seems to just crumble. Nikki seems to have overcome her problems and troubles and then when confronted with something they should tackle together she goes solo and destructive.

This was the perfect ending to the series. This book was a struggle to get through without crying. As I was reading this I had my suspicions of who was doing all the vandalizing, sending horrible messages to Nikki and the leaking of information to the press. I originally had five people in my suspect list and it was slowly narrowing down as I read the book. It was fun trying to clue into all the reason why a person would be doing all these things. By the time I realised who it was, I was not surprised, it made ton of sense. I won't go into the details of who did what and why I was a teary mess but I would say that it was a fun read and I would recommend this to someone who does not have a weak stomach. There are things that can be untasteful but can also start a conversation, a serious conversation. This book was an emotional ride, very romantic, dramatic and sexy. I enjoyed the story line. It made me think. ( )
