I had to force myself to finish this, and I wasn't sure I would continue the series, but I think I will. I read about Carlotta in Party Crashers, and I wasn't sure whether to like her then. I'm still not entirely sure. I don't want a perfect heroine, but it's kind of annoying to read about someone who makes the wrong decision at every opportunity. Carlotta and Wesley both. At least Wesley has the excuse of being a 19yo male. He's still young and stupid. I'm going to try one more book in the series before I give up, because I like Bond's other work. ( )

Picked this one up based on a booklist recommendation that the style was similar to Evanovich’s Plum series. If by “similar,” they mean books with pages, then I would agree.

The author decided to top Evanovich by having three romance interests instead of two. Yeah, not a great idea. It makes the heroine look like a desparate ‘ho-bag with the hots for any good looking guy in her path. Mostly because the only good looking guys in the book are the three she lusts after and the gay co-worker.

For someone who is 27 years old and has raised her younger brother for ten years, Carlotta comes across as ridiculously immature and naive. In spite of her salesclerk’s commission, she seems to neglect her financial responsibilities like paying the bills in favor of having an amazing wardrobe. All while heaping resentment and anger on her parents for abandoning them after her stockbroker father stole from clients.

Carlotta is a heap of hypocritical maturity issues who quickly becomes tiresome. The most interesting character is her brother, who is also the “body mover” from the title - another bizarre misdirection.

I’m willing to try the second book in the series, but it will require a lot of improvement to keep me going on the series. ( )

Carlotta Wren thought life couldn’t get much worse after her parents go on the run and her fiancé dumps her. Ten years later, her parents’ case is reopened and her ex-fiancé’s wife is murder, making Carlotta the prime suspect.

This book by no means is deep, and its not quite Janet Evanovich. That said its a fun read and a good way to relax and kill they day with a good old fashion trash novel. ( )
