A riveting story that does nicely as an accessible introduction to Gandhi for kids. The main characters are vivid and distinct from the start, and the contrast of Rosy's rarefied living situation and her earnest ideals for India sets up an interesting conflict. A compelling story with unexpected moments of humor that enhance the story and characters. ( ) The novel explores a young girl's realization that she does not share her parents view that India should be under British rule. She is living a privileged life in India but is slowly becoming more aware of the importance of India's struggle for independence. I like the inclusion of descriptions of the market place and what it would be like to live in both worlds. I also like the fact that the protagonist, Rosy, is a strong female character. I was interested to see how her life would change in India, but the novel ends before their is any change. I wish the author had continued on with the story. I wanted to know how involved she would become in the movement for India's self government. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
