Makes total sense. As I was reading this I felt like she was talking to me. I eat very healthy, I eat 1,200-1,600 calories a day and I workout 40-45 minutes a day yet I gain weight. I look forward to trying this. My sister has lost 55 lbs following it. I'm glad someone has said forget the calories and has a plan to fix my metabolism that I have screwed up over the years. ( )
Pomroy explains the science behind her diet. She then explains the three phases of the diet and provides lists of foods you can eat on each phase. The recipes are very good. If you want more recipes see her second book.
Tried starting this diet a few days before Lent began, and on the days when I was supposed to eat only protein (e.g. fish, eggs, meat), it was also days when I was supposed to abstain from meat due to Lent. Didn't work for me. May try again in the future..... ( )
How do you review a diet book without actually trying the diet? I guess by how convincing the author is. And the author of this book is convincing. It all sounds very logical, especially explanations why the most popular diets don't work. There is a lot of repeating and instructions are not very detailed (I went online and noticed that a lot of people are confused at particular details - or lack thereof - of this diet). Still, overall is a very interesting and logical diet idea. Now I just need to follow instructions. ( )

The most difficult time to avoid sugar is the next few days after eating sugar. There are many animal studies suggesting sugar is as addictive to the brain and the body as cocaine.
Refined sugar also has a suppressive effect on your immune system. Just two teaspoons of refined sugar will cut your T-cell count (the white blood cells that are instrumental in keeping your immune system strong and functioning) by 50 percent for two full hours after eating, leaving you more vulnerable to infection and illness.
It's important to understand how much caffeine stresses your adrenal glands. Caffeine before breakfast is a metabolism-killer, and that includes noncoffee choices like black tea, green tea, and white tea.
If you cheat now, if you stop now, all you are doing is repeating old patterns and sticking to the same tired paradigm. You remember the one. It's the one you used to live by, the prison I'm trying to break you out of. It's the thinking that, "I will always be on some diet," or "I have to go on a diet to get into these clothes or go to that event." It's the old paradigm of, "I can't take it anymore because my weight has gotten out of control, and I'm so dissatisfied with my body that I'll put myself through anything." Remember?
Sometimes, my clients are tempted to stop the diet during this week. It's so crucial not to do this! You absolutely must do the 28 days the first time through. Later, you can revisit the diet for maintenance, and do just a week or two at a time.
