I am a lover of historical fiction and love anything paranormal so this story was one I was much anticipating so here goes.
Our heroine Eliza Robinson is sent to stay with her Aunt Mauve in the puritan community of Maybrook.
She comes to escape gossip after a refusal of marriage to her fathers business partner Mr. Thomas Beesly.
Eliza hears ghostly voices and later that night her aunt is murdered in her bed leading our Eliza on an adventure of ghosts murder romance and an old Journal belonging to Helena the deceased mother of our hero Jonathan Porter who supposedly drowned when Jon was a child.
I could say a lot more about this book but don't want to spoil it for anyone needless to say it was an excellent read and i really enjoyed it i do so love a happy ending give it a try you wont be disappointed. ( )

From the first chapter I was instantly intrigued. Who was this girl that seemed so lost and why were all of these strange things happening to her? I’m not big on ghosts so when I began to see where the story was headed I debated not reading further but the way the author pulled you into the mystery immediately how could I not read on to find out what happened!

Once I started I couldn’t put it down. I fell in love with every character and was rooting for the Eliza and Jon from the beginning. Their connection was almost tangible throughout the story and I love the sweetness of their relationship. It was definitely a clean read with only a few instances of mind language.

This book is full of mystery and suspense as well as tragedy with a happy ending. I truly felt apart of that world for a moment and it was a wonderful experience. ( )

I really loved this book, sadly due to life it took me much longer to read than I would have like but it was absolutely brilliant. The twist at the end really threw me for a loop and I greatly enjoyed the journey. ( )

Within my first few pages of reading, Heart of the Ocean already had me. I was anxious to know more about Eliza's life and the place where her parents had planned to hide her until the controversy she'd left in New York died down.

The setting was one of the strong points of this novel; Maybrook was definitely a breath of fresh air through the pages. I found it very easy to picture the cold, biting wind, the constant lull of the waves crashing against the cliffs, and even the astonishingly conservative and simple-minded Puritans who lived in it. The place lent more eerie factor to the already-creepy voice that began to haunt Eliza on just her first day there.

If I were Eliza, I would've left Maybrook the second I was sure that voice wasn't just in my head, so I certainly admired how she faced it: bravely, though not quite carefully and thought-out, which delivered her to a rather perilous situation. What disappointed me more was when it happened not just once.

Apart from Eliza, there were also a lot of other colorful characters, each very different on their own. They definitely added to the overall fun of reading this book and even their stories were wrapped up by the last page - well, except for this one guy. My heart goest to thee, Nathaniel... (Excuse me if I messed that up, but I never bothered to learn that era of English, lol.)

Anyway, aside from doing a great job of putting to paper the atmosphere of the 1800's, the author also managed to perfectly mix mystery, suspense, paranormal, and romance, all of which were completely resolved in the ending that I seriously prayed for and had me tearing up. Just a few tears... yep... *hides*

MY FAVORITE PART was, well, the ending! XD ( )
