Celyn the Charming is quite happy with his job as a member of the Dragon Queen's Personal Guard - even if his sister, Branwen mocks him. But Celyn loves his job and his Queen, so when she asks him to escort Elina Shestakova home and help facilitate an alliance between her kin, the Steppes of the Outerplains and Annwyl and the dragons - he agrees. Even though Elina is the most annoying woman he's ever met. Elina Shestakova is baffled and frustrated by the large Southland male who constantly asks questions and never stops talking. But Queen Annwyl gave her a task and she's willing to do whatever she needs to suceed. Even if that means returning to her home. Or death. I wasn't really sure about this book to start with. I never really liked Celyn all that much and I found Elina to be kind of bland upon introduction. But they surprised me. Elina and Celyn both grew on me as the book progressed and while they may not be my favourite characters, I don't hate them either. The romance between them isn't really fluffy or sweet or swoony, it's hot and steamy and somewhat lacking. For all I believed they did like each other, I don't know that I was all that convinced by their love and commitment. But there's a lot more happening than romance and I enjoyed catching up with the dragon kin family and learning more of the world they live in. Especially Annwyl. I adore Annwyl. The political elements were good if a little overwhelming in their complexity. And I liked the plot containing the Sightless One. I would've liked to see more conversation or details about their trip to the temple but I imagine the next book will cover it. I loved getting to see more of Talwyn and Talan and Rhi but I was disappointed not to find out more of what they've been up to. And Anyway, not quite as good as the other books but a decent read. 4 stars. Celyn stops Elina as she climbs the mountain in order to kill the Queen. Elina has a very fatalistic viewpoint which drives Celyn crazy. All the dragons make an appearance, along with their crazy making behavior. The children are growing and are endanger as a sect is trying to kill the Abominations. Some really funny moments and some that fell flat, but definately an enjoyable read. ~ 3.5 Light My Fire Stars ~ Light My Fire is book seven in the Dragon Kin series by G.A. Aiken. I LOVE dragon’s and have been waiting not so passionately to return to Ms. Aiken’s Dragon Kin world. It’s been a while since the last dragon book [b:How to Drive a Dragon Crazy|12840440|How to Drive a Dragon Crazy (Dragon Kin, #6)|G.A. Aiken|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1330045728s/12840440.jpg|17991105] (2012) was published. I enjoyed return to this world and all the characters. At least ten years have passed from How to Drive a Dragon Crazy to Light My Fire in the plot. We get to see a lot of our previous characters we have come to enjoy and how their lives have progressed. I never expected their to be so many children between the dragons and humans. I knew things where changing, but not this much. The plot focuses on the abominations (or some would call them, but not all see them as such.) They are the human/dragon children/hybrids. Yes, they are different and I look forward to seeing how this progresses out. I enjoyed Elian & Celyn romance. It was nice. I have a weakness for these loud obnoxious ego-driven dragons with their quick wit that never falters no matter what is going on around them. Elian fit right into their world. I did have a hard time getting comfortable with Elian’s culture. Not sure why it was so hard. It just was. The other thing that I had trouble with in this installment was the jumping around from one character to another. We would end a chapter and then start a new one with someone else at a different point in the story. I don’t know, I needed more of a transition explanation or something. If you love laugh-out-loud humor, sexy arrogant dragons, and quick witted heroines then this series would be something to try. I am a fan and look forward to more. Its hot, sexy, and humors. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

This book was great! As usual with the Dragon Kin series, this book is funny and "charming!" I would loved to have had more time with the MCs but it is always good to see how the characters from previous books are doing. Also can't wait until something happens with the "Abominations" because I'm ready for this arc to end. ( )
