This is an excellent sequel! I'd even go so far as to say this story would be excellent all on its own, but I do feel a reader would benefit from the character building of the first book. Still, this story is self-contained, satisfying, and such a fun adventure.

The princes charming and all their associated princesses are back, along with the pint-sized Bandit King, the melancholy Ruffian, Liam's spirited little sister, and a host of new characters to round out the cast. Rather than saving a kingdom, this time they're invading one! Or infiltrating, at least. With their honor as heroes on the line, they'll have to lie, sneak, and otherwise outmaneuver the story's villains to keep the world safe. Too bad they're not actually good at any of those things.

A fast-paced plot, lovable characters, and plenty of humor make this a middle-grade must-read. ( )

Once again, Christopher Healy doesn't disappoint. The second book in the League of Princes series is just as edge-of-your-seat hilarious as the first that you can't put it down. (read more) ( )

Oh so fun. Good for boys and people who like a laugh. Healy is genius at creating characters and letting them grow, while still maintaining their personality. A light, intelligent and funny read. Does not disappoint as a sequel. ( )

This is the second book in the “Prince of Leagues” series, where four “Princes Charming” have joined up to be heroes: Prince Gustav (paired with healer Rapunzel), Prince Liam (Briar Rose/Sleeping Beauty), Prince Duncan (Snow White) and Prince Frederic (Cinderella/Ella). In this installment, Liam doesn’t want to marry Briar Rose, but she kidnaps him to force him into the marriage. On hearing this, the other princes (and Ella) join to stop the wedding! From there, they all end up on another adventure.

I listened to the audio (again) and Bronson Pinchot is truly amazing! So many different voices for so many different characters! The story itself I’m giving a “good” (3.5 stars) and I’m adding in an extra .25 for the audio. Despite Pinchot’s performance, I did lose focus occasionally, and I am assuming it was the story, not the performance. I did find the story picked up once the princes were together again (there was some intro where they were separate at the start of the book). Overall, though, it was still a lot of fun! I love Duncan and Snow! So funny! Well, it could be the voices Pinchot brings to them that I love… but it’s not just that! But, it helps. I also thought Briar Rose made a really good villain. I did find some of the voices were probably done more for children (the giants, trolls, and more), so I wasn’t as excited about those. ( )

Title: A Hero's Guide to Storming the Castle Series: League of Princes Author: Christopher Healy Rating: of 5 Battle Axes Genre: SFF Pages: 497 Format: Kindle Synopsis: The Princes all come together, some willingly, some not so willingly, for another adventure to save ALL the kingdoms. From Briar Rose. And lots of other things happen along the way. My Thoughts: I enjoyed this, but not quite as much as the previous book, A Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom. Part of that was that the new'ness of the idea wasn't new now. Another part was the continued romance subplot about everybody not sure who they're actually in love with. I didn't like that at all. I liked the pictures. They captured the various characters rather well and lent a humorous air to the book. " ( )
