It has the most boring, plodding plot, with one of the most unlikable characters I've ever met. She hates all other women, she seems to hate a ton of men, too. She's supposed to be witty and sarcastic and badass. She just comes off as whiny. ( ) Torn between two brothers Severine is one confused girl. She chooses the safe one or so she thinks. I actually feel sorry for Thayer and I'm kind of pissed at Serverine for choosing Macsen so quickly it feels like she did it to spite her feelings for Thayer to prove to herself she didn't like him. I also couldn't believe she couldn't figure out something was wrong when Mascen wasn't all over her for sex- sure some pretty frickin hot steamy sexy kisses but that was it. When things finally blow I am again upset that Severine just can't get over Mascen after what he did it should have been a no brainer but she still considers his feels. And don't get me started on Mascen why can't he see the there is no going back! Thayer and Severine are so good together I don't know why she fights it so much. You will have to read it and see what happens. It was a page turner I couldn't put down I loved it! When the sex finally when flying it was Hot and not to raunchy. Can't wait for Book 2 Breaking the Wrong which is due out Spring 2013. There is a thing lingering at the end that left me wanting to know what was going on but I am content until Spring. Quotes: "close enough that Severine could count the flecks of black in his eyes. But she didn't do that...... Five. There were five little flecks." " 'I saw you first.' he rasped out deeply. 'Remember that. I saw you first.' " "If your hands go below the waist, I'm giving you a swift kick to the baby maker." "The theory that you're always seven people away from a dumb whore." " 'I Love you, but I will reach over there and kick your ass.' 'Said the Polly Pocket,' Severine mumbled." "This is amazing. I officially want to make love with this moment." "That....plus Morgan reminds me of Lily. You can never have too many Lilys in your life." Read more reviews on my blog iloveladyporn.com For some reason I had really high expectations for this. I fell in love with the cover the minute I saw it and I really hoped the book is just as good. Severine is an independent and strong young woman, but I can see how her world was turned upside down when she met the Sloan brothers. She has all these walls built up around her, and I totally blame the mother - nobody should go through their life that cut off from the world. I really liked her even if at some point I wanted to smack her on the head repeatedly. I just didn't get her in that way - I liked Mac in the beginning. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I liked him in the whole book. Macsen has issues, and I can't even begin to explain how heartbreaking it was finally learning the story of Sloan family and why they were so at each other, but Macsen is the one that I think carried the heaviest burden of them all. So in the end I really felt for him even when I tried not to. I actually loved Severine and Macsen together, they had an easy relationship. He has this calm about his character that just seemed to work for Severine's. Thayer, on the other hand, is just so intense, a complete opposite. The chemistry between him and Severine was amazing! I swear the sparks were flying from my reader. And once they finally got together it was everything I thought it would be! They were so real with each other, I loved that - and I kept wishing Severine would just let go of all her doubts and indecision and go for it. The second half of the book is my more favorite half, I have to say. Everything about him was wonderful. My favorite scene is probably the whole basketball game bit! I went back to re-read that when I was done. I'm not usually a fan of siblings-in-love-triangles stories for obvious reasons but I'll say I really loved this. The writing style is...can I just take a wild guess that English is not author's mother language? Anyways, it was very simplistic in style but I didn't mind one bit - I'll take a short and simple sentence over a never-ending one every day of the week. Honestly, sometimes all the flowery writing can get exhausting, so this was refreshing to read - and it's somehow unique, too. I've never read something like this. The dialogue, for example, is great in this sense. I'd quote some things here but I'm afraid they're spoilerish. Overall I'd say that if you love a good love triangle, a strong female character, and two swoon worthy heroes, then I definitely recommend this! The author gives you a couple of teasers for the sequel - and now I'm dying here wondering what will happen. I'll be super mad if... Everything in life came down to choices. It was always a general thought that the larger decisions held greater consequences, but if you really thought about it, so did the small ones. Wow so how do I feel about this book? Damn, I could not put it down. I was supposed to be preparing for in-laws coming for Thanksgiving and instead I huddled on a chair in my kitchen trying desperately to finish this book before I could even begin to think about something as dreadful as cleaning. I am not sure if I can possibly wait until the next book comes out. I need it now!. I don't think I have ever been this anxious to read a sequel in my life. I am already feeling like I might stalk Calia's blog until she posts something about the next book other than that fantastic cover. Okay so my thoughts are this: I friggin' loved this book! It's hilarious yet there is a seriousness to the story as well. It's a love triangle (which I love as always) but I pretty much knew who I wanted her to be with at the beginning and then completely changed my mind towards the half way point. Severine is funny, sarcastic, overly confident and a bit cocky. She has absolutely no idea what love is really about. She has commitment and trust issues and at times is a very complicated character, I found myself loving her and not liking her. She confused me sometimes with her way of thinking but at other times I got where she was coming from. Thayer: There is more to him than Severine believes at first. “Not bad? The hot Calvin Klein models we taped in our lockers in high school were not bad.” Lily inclined her head in Thayer’s direction. “That’s look-at-the-sky-and-scream, ‘Thank you God,’ as loud as you can!” - Lily They are way too much alike and both are too stubborn for their own good. “The ego on the two of you is enough to make the windows shatter. So you’re in Severine-land, and he’s chilling in all his hot dude glory. You are like two magnets repelling each other. The magnetic field is too much.” - Lily Macsen: Severine is drawn to him. He has the ability to make her feel calm and she believes that he is what she needs. Since yesterday, her mind kept replaying her encounter with the Sloan brothers. She wasn’t going to encourage a conversation with Thayer Sloan. She knew his game and had no interest in playing it. But Macsen Sloan, he might be a different story. The Sloan Brothers take sibling rivalry to whole new level. They can not stand each other and Severine is torn between the two. Unfortunately the discord in their relationship is a secret Severine tries on numerous occasions to discover but can never get to the bottom of until after she finds herself feeling as if she is ripping them further apart. To me this was not just a story about Sverine making a choice between two brothers and the consequences but it is also a story of self discovery. Severine has to figure out a lot about herself when she is dealing with these two guys. She has to rethink the way she views relationships and love and learn that you never really can know someone by looking at them and going with preconceived notions. People are complicated and just because they appear one way to the outside world does not mean that's who they truly are. Severine also realizes that sometimes you have to just trust, you may get your heat broken in the process but you can't let that break you and give up. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
