Bunny & the Beast is very similar to the fairytale Beauty & the Beast. However, that author add a her own twist to the story. Some details throughout the story are completely different from the original fairytale Beauty & the Beast, however, the different story is more interesting. The small details the author adds in the story intrigues the readers more than the stereotypical Beauty & the Beast fairytale. The illustration are also bright, beautiful, and eye catching. The only issue I have with the story is how lengthy the text are. Overall, the story was amazing and a good read. ( )

"Bunny and the Beast" was very similar to "Beauty and the Beast." The story lines were identical. A father of bunnies, who was a merchant was caught stealing a flower from the beast's garden. The beast demanded him to bring his daughter to him in trade of him. One of the daughters agreed to go. The beast liked Bunny more and more and decided he wanted to marry her. Every day she would say no. One day, she wanted to go see her father, but she had to promise the beast of her return or else he would die. When she came back, she thought it was too late and the beast had died. When she proclaimed her love for him, he came back to life and they married. They lived happily ever after. This plot followed the tradition plot of happily ever after's as far as starting without love and ending with it. The illustrations of this book took up the whole page, on every single page and showed pictures of the events taking place of the story. They showed full details of the city, country and forest. ( )

Bunny and the beast, a fairy-tale very similar to the one we all know and love as- “Beauty and the Beast”. Although this fairytale is similar, the author adds his own twists which almost makes you forget all about the Beauty and the Beast we are most familiar with. The main character of the story is “Bunny” who we can easily assume is the “Beauty” in the story. The author also adds in two sisters, Thistle and Thorna who are spoiled and may be easily compared to the step sisters in the popular fairytale “Cinderella”. Bunny is sent away to live in the Beast’s castle and she is surrounded by the finer things which she isn’t used to. Eventually Bunny falls in love with the Beast and he ends up turning into a nice handsome Bunny, just like in the familiar story the Beast turns into a handsome Prince. I enjoyed that the author swayed from the normal Beauty and the Beast story and made the character’s bunnies, and the beast a Bullterrier dog instead of an actual monstrous beast. A normal princess tale may not gain the interests of all young readers, especially young males. Being that Bunny & the Beast has its own twists with beautiful illustrations that capture’s the eye with each page , I feel as if young readers will not be disappointed. ( )

Bunny and the Beast has a twist on characters compared to the old fairy tale version of Beauty and the Beast. This story uses rabbits and a dog as the main characters. Bunny’s father was a rich rabbit merchant and her two sisters were spoiled rabbits. Bunny was the merchants’ nicest daughter, she did not ask for much and she was easy going. One day the merchant wandered off into the forest very upset because his ship was wrecked, the cargo was lost, and he had to somehow pay the crew. As the merchant was wandering he followed his nose to a castle where there was an inviting smell. The merchant went in ate a grand supper and slept in a fine bed in the castle. The next morning, he snipped a rose from the garden on his way out for Bunny. Suddenly, the Beast appeared and told the merchant that he now has to trade one of his daughters for the rose. Arriving home, the merchant tells his daughters of his promise to send one of them to the Beast, they all reject this news. All except Bunny, she agreed to go and save her family from the Beast’s wrath. Day after day, the Beast showered Bunny with gifts, and every night he asked her to marry him. Bunny rejected his proposal every time, and left for a week to visit her father. Upon arrival back at the castle Bunny found the Beast dying in the garden and told him to please have her as his wife. Those words broke the spell that was on the Beast and he turned into a handsome bunny. The two lived happily ever.
The images played a significant role in the books setting. The paintings were of old 1600 style, which were very beautiful. The words were small and overpowered by the pictures. This story has the message that beauty is not on the outside. A person can be beautiful and have a nasty attitude or be an evil person. Rather, beauty is deeper it is what lies within a person’s true heart. I would read this book with my class teaching a lesson that you must love people for who they are not by their appearance. ( )

Bunny and the Beast is a beautiful retelling on Beauty and the Beast with its incorporation of animals. The illustrations are eye-catching and distract readers from the story's length. I would introduce this story to my students to show them various story retellings of Beauty and the Beast. ( )
