It took me a bit to really warm up to the characters but by the end I was right there with them. The author did well in the shift of the main male lead's opinion toward Sora- he didn't fall in love with her on first sight, he didn't care for her during their journey, yet by the end... Oooo I don't want to spoil it! Let's just say that note... oh that last note.... was so very lovely.

I would have liked the reasoning behind the main enemy to have been more clear. It took me a while to start associating what happened at the beginning with him and then associating that with Crash...

The Cats Eye gem is a neat idea and I look forward to seeing how THAT plays out. Double edged swords are always fun! ( )

I picked this up on the recommendation of a friend. This was a great fantasy ride. It had all the elements of a quest fantasy without feeling to bogged down in FANTASY, if you know what I mean. If not, let me try to explain.

Sora and all of the other characters felt so real to me. They had fears and emotions I could relate to even though they were on this fantastical journey where death could find them at least 50 ways each day. Sora was young and naive to the world, but she grew into a strong capable woman. I loved watching her growth.

As much as I loved Sora, I'm the most intrigued by Crash. Even though he came off cruel, cold, unmovable at first, I found myself drawn to him. The mystery isn't solved, not even scratched really in this first novel and that's what will take me to the next one. And I secretly hope he'll find Sora again someday. Maybe not, but the romantic in me likes the fact that she was able to "wake" him up. He starts to feel again, grow a conscious, want to be better. ( )

This is the second time I've read this book. The first time was earlier this week and I had to restart it when I was 21% of the way through the book because I wasn't giving it the attention it was due. Not because of the book but because I just moved and have been unpacking and packing to go on vacation next week. All of this took away from the book for me. So, I restarted the book and gave it it's proper attention as I was reading it this time. I loved this book. I wish I would have done that earlier.

I felt for Sora from the beginning of the book. Was hoping she'd find what she was looking for. Since I don't do spoilers you will have to read the book to see if that happens. Also the characters of Crash, Dorian, and Burn roped me in. I thought Dorian was just so sweet and funny. Burn reminds me of a gentle giant at times. Crash all I can say is yum. He's sexy and scary all in one. I found myself wanting more of Crash and knowing more about him.

I laughed during parts and cried my eyes out at others. T.L. Shreffler took me on a wonderful journey through a swamp. Allowing me to watch the characters grow and connect to them. I enjoyed learning about the world of Magic and some different races. The ending of the book left me wanting more. Look very forward to reading and reviewing the next book in the series. Hoping it gives me more insight into Crash and I want to know what's happening with Sora.

Thanks for a great read and can't wait to visit and learn more. On a side note my 11 year old daughter thinks this book must be good cause momma was walking around reading her kindle and drinking a cup of coffee. So, according to her it must be a good book if you can't even put it down to get a fresh cup of coffee mom. She's write. You should really give this a book a shot you won't be disappointed. Not to mention you can't beat the price.
