This brightly colored book seems more small child focused than it actually is. The writing is dense and the language is sophisticated, the drawings are fun and lighthearted though, and clearly are this book's strength. It is a good transitional biography for the tween readers. ( )

I really enjoyed this book about Ben Franklin. The pictures were incredible and the story was packed with information about Ben Franklin's life as a young boy that I never knew about. This book about Ben Franklin gave me a lot of the same information as the other book I read about Ben Franklin did. This book, however, gave better visuals than the other book did. I think I prefer this book over the other one that I read for this week ( )

There are so many spectacular, fascinating and colorful illustrations and writings within the pages of this pictoral biography. While I learned a good amount within this short picture book, and I understand the author/illustrator's desire to include as much information as possible I found it all a bit much. The detailed (but beautiful) brightly colored illustrations throughout, the main text, and added in phrases ans quotes provide a lot of useful and interesting information, but seem a little to hectic and crowded to be able fully focus and absorb the material. It is still a great read about a famous founding father, and the detailed ink, pen, and watercolor illustrations are exquisitely rendered.

Electric Ben, although beautifully illustrated, can be a bit off putting to a student who has difficulty reading. The text is chunked, but sections are still long. The book has gorgeous illustrations and a wealth of information about the life of Benjamin Franklin, which makes it an excellent resource for a student working on a biography about the inventor or other project. ( )
