This was a short novella with not too much to it, but still a nice story. Not something that I will remember, but a nice way to end off my reading year. ( )
This very brief novel is a prequel to The Girl You Left Behind and introduces the characters of the full novel as they celebrate their honeymoons in Paris. The present day couple, David and Liv struggle with David's overcommitment to his work, which leaves Liv wondering if she made a mistake to marry a man who is more interested in his work than in spending time with her. Similarly, Sophie and Edouard experience misunderstandings regarding Edouard's past relationships and Sophie is left to worry that she may not be enough to hold Edouard's interest in the future. Although brief, this was a nice story that I believe would be best read AFTER one reads The Girl You Left Behind, as it gives the reader a chance to revisit the characters and have a fuller picture of their relationships before the novel took place.
