I cried several times reading it. I feel like I just read a book about myself, except about 10 years in the future (as a freshman in college). I would recommend this to ANYONE- gay, Christian, a gay Christian, a parent, a child, anyone. In fact, I’ve already recommended it to many people despite only having finished it a few minutes ago. ( ) I come from a very different theological perspective than the author of this book, and both started and ended in different religious contexts. For the most part, I don't relate to the struggle he experienced in reconciling his sexuality and his faith. But I got a lot more out of the book than I expected to - I really appreciated and admired his compassionate and thoughtful perspective. I heard that every Christian should read this book and I now agree wholeheartedly. I don’t think you can read Justin’s story without being moved to compassion. I tend to believe that the best thing we can do to grow in love is to listen to the stories of those who are different from us. If there isn’t room for diversity in the church, then we are failing at embracing the beauty of God within each human heart.
